TLDR: Abuelo’s is a lovely place to eat with a great atmosphere, pretty decor, and great food, along with kind and accommodating staff. I would definitely return! We had a reservation for 7pm on a Wednesday night and were surprised to see how full the restaurant was- we were glad to have reserved a table for 6 people. We ordered drinks and queso. Originally, the queso came out somewhat cold and congealed looking, but we asked if they would get us a new one, and they immediately obliged without any issue. I had a Spanish Sangria Roja, and he had a margarita (no salt). Both drinks were delicious- he ended up ordering a second margarita.I ordered the Mahi Vallarta (which was delicious- and I forgot to take a photo before starting to eat it, and forgot to take a photo of his food too until almost finished ?) and he ordered the Puebla Azteca. Both were very tasty. The other guests ordered the fajita trio and really enjoyed it. The quantity of food is A LOT- definitely no shortage of food! The atmosphere is definitely unique with a skylight- looking ceiling and tropical plants. This is a Mexican restaurant with a proper sit down restaurant vibe.If I lived in this area, I’d definitely return!Vegetarian options: There is a small vegetarian section. Please see my pictures of the menuParking: There was a free parking lot outside the restaurant with plenty of parkingKid-friendliness: There is a decent sized kids menu - please see my pictures of the menu

Forgot to take pictures but this place is legit. Really tasty food — great service. It was busy but we got our food quickly and the food was really good. After a bad experience recently at Rio Mirage I’m happy to have a new go-to Mexican restaurant!

While visiting Arizona we got to try Abuelos for the first time and it left room to be desired. We got there shortly after opening and the staff already seemed to be in a rush to get us in and out. I was surprised that they seated a fairly large group before us so quickly. The salsas seemed to be premade and unexpectedly sweet. We tried the nachos and were surprised that the chips were thick half cut tortillas (which was different but good). We also tried the Durango Burrito and it was just ok. Sadly, the best part was the rice and beans.Overall, I don't recommend Abuelos unless you have a large group and want mediocre food.
