So I was going to leave it alone and not write a review until we got our food so let me start from the beginning, the parking lot is full of grasshoppers all the way to the door. We had a reservation so we got sat fast although it was pretty “dead” for lunch time.. now we have been here plenty of times before and beer had a problem with the food, I’m not sure if it’s because we were with family who got the platters with baked beans and coleslaw which are amazing or what but this time I decided to bring just my son and I for a lunch date. We both got the pick 2 meats and a side, we both got double rib tips, he got Mac and cheese and I got mash potatoes My favorite or so I thought… now the rib tips were pink like chicken they were questionable so we requested we get the ribs instead and just work on our sides while we wait, that was a bummer because the mash potatoes tasted like OLD garlic scraped from the bottom of a pan I couldn’t help but make a face and then the Mac and cheese I GUESS is made with jalapeños and corn?!?!?! Tasted straight like jalapeño juice!!! well we ended getting a half rack of ribs to suffice the meat issue and those were to a disappointment as they were way to tough and way to much fat on each rib! I have real teeth and I could only imagine someone with dentures trying to get through that. Long story short our waitress did a great job and nothing was her fault, I still covered the bill with no bill issue and gave her $10 it’s not her fault. But we will not be back especially after we just experienced amazing service and amazing fall off the bone ribs at mission bbq in surprise the day prior, we just wanted to bbq hop well it was a HUGE disappointment. Do better famous Dave’s please!

I’ve eaten at Famous Dave’s in Peoria a few times now—once last year and a couple of times recently in January and February—and it has quickly become my go-to barbecue spot on the west side of Phoenix. Every visit has been consistently good, and we’ll definitely be returning customers.
The barbecue is flavorful, the portions are solid, and the overall experience is just reliable. It’s the kind of place you can count on when you’re craving good BBQ without the disappointment you sometimes get elsewhere.
I’ve also tried Mission BBQ and unfortunately wasn’t impressed—it felt overpriced and didn’t deliver the same level of flavor or value.
For us, Famous Dave’s Bar-B-Que stands out as the best barbecue option on the west side of Phoenix. And that’s saying a lot coming from someone who grew up in San Diego and spent 25 years living in Texas—so I take my barbecue pretty seriously.
If you’re in the area and craving BBQ, this spot is definitely worth the visit.
The weather was nice so we sat on the patio. Matt was very accommodating and the food was yummy as usual. We like to come during happy hour and use our app to get discounts on our meals. We love Famous Dave’s!
