Very authentic indeed. Great African decorations and pictures. The foods are mostly vegetarian but there are some meats. Also, there is a bar and friendly staff.
Swinging by after our morning hike, my wife, two kids and I ducked into Authentic EthioAfrican looking for something different. We were met with smiling faces and a cozy, warmly lit dining room filled with carved wood decor. We grabbed a family sampler platter, plus their in-house roasted coffee proved to be a perfect end to our weekend outing. The kids loved tearing the injera, dipping into the stews, and ended up louder than Miami soccer fans by the end. Truly felt like a family-run gem. Worth the wait.
I ordered through an app and picked up at the restaurant. When walking in, absolutely no one greeted me and just sat there awkwardly. So then I greeted yet still no one said anything. Without me saying my name the elderly guy behind counter just slides me a styrofoam box. Then asks me if I’m from DoorDash or uber eats as if I was delivering when in fact I was buying food for myself bc idk I’m hungry. This is my first time ever coming here and the whole experience was very unwelcoming and off. You guys don’t ever have to worry about me coming back.
Excellent food. The beans and split yellow peas were excellent. Folks are friendly and good prices.
Nice little place. The food was very good. Lots of cocktail and beer options which was nice. I feel like the food is better at Lalibela but the vibe is a little better here. Definitely more drunk options if that matters to the group.
The interior was decorated beautifully and traditionally. The food was amazing and had a good selection of options. The service was okay, nothing special or overly welcoming.
Hands down best Ethiopian food I’ve had in a while. From the east coast to here. Phenomenal!!
Delicious Ethiopian food!
We truly felt welcomed here and had a wonderful meal.
The two person sampler was the perfect size
Looking forward to coming back
It's so beautiful inside. The service is good and the food's delicious.
So good! Got the vegetarian platter for 4. If I recall correctly, all (almost everything) that is listed as vegetarian is actually vegan. Rivals Cafe Lalibella in Tempe. Get the coffee to finish - it comes beautifully presented with incense. Nice atmosphere as well.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the world! Such nice people and incredible food. Having been to Ethiopia many times I can say that this restaurant is truly authentic and offers a true Teff injera yay!

The food here is really good, and the people here are really nice. But it's a huge shame it's in such a sketchy area. The neighborhood is rough & I felt like I was in danger, being a small defenseless woman. But I love Ethiopian food, so I'm glad I gave it a chance.
