I usually order a Rueben if I’m gonna evaluate a restaurant because it’s a basic sandwich that shines when done well and I love them.
Place is a sort of north Phoenix dive - nothing special just a bar and grill. Sandwich beat my expectations. Crowd seemed mostly local. Good news was the food was great and the pastrami had great flavor but if I had to find a negative it was a bit dry.
I give it a 4 because I was expecting pretty bad food but got something pretty darn good and a decent value. Cheers to the chef.
PS beer too expensive. 10 bucks for a tall Dos Equis.
Love the bar games, dancing, and spontaneous karaoke 🎤 🎶
The food is good. Service is good. It is cold, so bring a sweater.
Great people and atmosphere
Great place to eat with friends. Very friendly, attentive staff! Had the French dip sandwich. Very good but a bit more gristle than I like 😆 Still, I'm giving them 5 stars!
Had a great lunch experience
Good bar food
I had the burger and it was very juicy and delicious. Definitely worth trying if you're a burger lover.
Good food. There are great options on the menu. Good service every time we go there. We'll worth a trip for food or a drink.

Review for Ozools Bar and Restaurant:
I’ve been a regular at Ozools for years, but my recent visit left me very disappointed. The new owners seem to be under the impression that bigger is better, but it’s hard to ignore the way they’ve inflated prices across the board. What used to be a great spot for an affordable meal is now surprisingly expensive for what you’re getting.
One major issue I noticed is the menu – it’s unnecessarily vast. While variety is great, it’s clear that having so many options only drives up costs. The kitchen can’t possibly keep everything fresh, and it’s hard to imagine the logistics don’t add extra overhead. If the new owners cut down on the menu’s size, they could streamline operations, reduce waste, and ultimately offer better prices for the quality of food. Right now, it feels like they’re trying to offer everything under the sun but doing none of it particularly well.
The higher prices, combined with a lack of focus on quality, really make Ozools feel like a shadow of its former self. It’s a shame because this place had so much potential, but unless something changes, I won’t be returning anytime soon.

Ask for Skyy or Dante or Melissa (or Sammy if you're at the bar) and you'll come back again and again. It's a super cool vibe. It's the servers that pull the place together here. (there are other great ones that I failed to mention as well) Since the new ownership they've turned sorta "bistro wannabe" (feels like a bit of a California mentality) -- not right for Desert Hills IMHO. But it still has a local sports bar/pub vibe if you get the right servers. Their food is better than any in the area.
Their live music is great, they manage to get the best in the valley still because it's a fun place.. they have pool tables and you'll be happy you stopped by - AZool really is a great place. Friday and Saturday nights are the best IMO but they have bar games during the week and good specials. Encourage the new owners to embrace the Desert Hills/rustic/western vibe and this place could be the best!
