This was a really interesting spot with a cool vibe! We grabbed food from the truck outside, and it was tasty, definitely a bit overpriced, but that’s pretty standard for a bar. We headed down into the lounge for cocktails and were disappointed by the $17 margaritas. We tried two different versions, and neither tasted particularly fresh, which was surprising given the price point and the overall atmosphere. I’d come back for the ambiance and maybe try a different drink, but the margaritas missed the mark for us.

20% gratuity added on top of your bill is outrageous, especially because they don't let you know until after you order. Gratuity should not be mandatory - it is *earned*. Pay your staff a better wage so they don't depend on gratuity to make a living. Won't be buying drinks from there again.
+ The parking situation is absurd.

My husband and I did a private tequila tasting and it was beyond my expectations. David not only super accommodated us but gave us an experience and a lifetime memory for us both to keep. The tequila and the story is amazing, learning the roots of tequila while sipping it is top tier. The private tequila tasting is a must!!! Thank you so much David!!!!

I came here 8/31 around 7pm. They were doing karaoke and shut down most of the other locations like the basement bar. I had no idea and I don’t believe I saw it on the website either about the karaoke event. I wish I knew prior to going. The parking is 30 some dollars for 3 hours which I find absurd. But that’s not their fault.

Anyways the bar is nicely decorated for sure and I love that. But the cantina is really small. For a karaoke event it was not the best use of space since the bar of the cantina practically takes half the room and then there’s like 4 tables you can sit at. I was a bit confused finding the door since it wasn’t very obvious. When I walked in there was the karaoke host at the table and I asked where to sit and she indicated any open table but I’d have to order at the bar. Since there’s also bar seating I don’t know if ordering at the bar is a great idea since space limitations was definitely obvious.

I had two drinks there. One was a guava margarita and the other was a Paloma. For downtown drinks they’re not badly priced. I’m not a huge fan of tequila but the drinks weren’t bad. They were definitely strong though. I asked the bartender if they use a syrup or real fruit for the guava margarita. The bartender said it was ‘real fruit but it’s kinda syrupy’. Let me say it came out of a white squeeze bottle and it was 100% syrup. It’s the simply squeeze syrups and that’s NOT real fruit. It’s a syrup infused with real fruit. So i was very disappointed to see her make it with a syrup which is cheap instead of making it with real fruit as she stated it was. They moisten the side of the glass and then roll it in Tajin and salt. I wasn’t a fan of the tajin going on the side of the glass instead of around the full rim.

The Paloma was fine. But again side of glass rolled in Tajin and salt. The food was pretty good and average priced. I had some shrimp tacos and they were very good. The outside patio wasn’t like hot because there were misters. I sat outside with my friends because it was too loud inside due to the karaoke. I didn’t really feel like there was any waitstaff besides the bartender. I didn’t really see anyone clearing tables and there were empty glasses on the tables and bar.

My friends and I didn’t really enjoy the experience as much as we thought we would. We saw the menus on the website with the pictures and it looked so good. And I thought the fact they do tequila private tasting was pretty unique. The website was very well constructed and professional for sure. But the bar and the experience I feel like wasn’t as good as the website unfortunately. My friends and I shortly left after the few drinks and food and went to a separate location to continue our night. I wish we would’ve been able to experience the basement bar and the upstairs bar but again we had no knowledge of them being closed down due to the karaoke

Barcoa is one of the best bar experiences in Phoenix.

The ownership is ever present and attentive, creating an atmosphere where every guest feels welcomed and looked after.

The service here is exceptional, thanks to an all-star bar staff including Derek, BJ and Danielle, who go above and beyond every night. Pair that with a stellar lineup of agave spirits, Mexican beer, creative cocktails and rotating food trucks, and you have a spot that never disappoints.

Barcoa also boasts an “A” food grade safety rating, which is a testament to their commitment to the highest standards behind the scenes as well as in front of guests.

This is the place to go whether you’re meeting friends, on a date, or simply looking for a great night out in Phoenix.

This is a very cute spot. One of the few places that offer a mezcal list!! My drink was amazing! However, if you are in a wheelchair or have a disability, you may want to wait until fall and winter season, to go when you can sit outside. They did have misters outside, right now it's to hot for for me. They only have high top tables and barstools upstairs inside. So unless you can transfer to the high top table outside is your best bet. The staff was very friendly and explained that due to it being a historic building, they cannot do modifications such as an elevator to go downstairs. But they will accommodate to have the downstairs menu upstairs. I wish the website said something like that may have missed it, but I don't think it does as it would save time for people who can't get around as easily. I also recommend if you are going, it would be easier to get Uber, lyft or Waymo to prevent having to pay for parking and its just easier for the area. Overall despite those challenges I will be back when the temperature changes.

We had such a pleasant time at Barcoa. Due to a glitch, they weren't supposed to take reservations the night we went but they still honored it and gave us a nice and secluded area. The drinks were all delicious, just top notch, and then we noticed the manager comped our first round of drinks too. Service was great, they kept checking on us to make sure we had all we needed. We'll definitely be back to give them more business. Amazing place

BARCOA Agaveria is an incredible spot for a date night. Every detail inside—from the decor to the ambiance—feels authentically Mexican and thoughtfully curated. The mezcal and tequila selections are top-tier, and every cocktail I tried was absolutely delicious. There was also a food truck outside serving amazing food, which we were able to bring inside. The atmosphere is cool, moody, and full of character. Highly recommend for a unique and memorable night out.
