My fiancée and I decided to check this place out since we were in downtown Phoenix and the place was hyped up as a great brunch place.
...That may have been one of the most mediocre brunch experiences I've ever had.
We waited nearly an *hour and a half* for our food after ordering. Apparently their kitchen staff was short today. Okay, no problem it happens. But they just kept seating people. I could see their order status screen from my seat and every single table was flashing red. They could have let folks know "Hey we're short today it's going to be approximately such and such wait" but nope! We were seated, ordered quickly and then waited. And waited. And waited.
The service was also sub-par at best. You'd think with that wait time we'd have wait staff apologizing or even attempting to provide above average service to balance it out? Again - Nope! We barely saw our waitress, she didn't offer say more warm coffee since it was cold by the time the food was arriving, nothing. Another member of the wait staff saw we were frustrated at our wait and said they'd talk with the manager to knock a bit off the bill as an apology. Got our bill and turns out that was lip service.
And then the food arrived. Good lord it was mid. I've legit had better breakfast food at Dennys but at least I get Dennys prices. Instead I got the blandest biscuits and gravy I've ever had. I've had white bread with more flavor.
And lastly, the music was just too loud. I don't hate the vibe they're going for, it was fun, but when my waitress straight up missed part of my order cause she didn't hear it? Then clearly the music is too loud. And because the wait service was so mediocre, I didn't even know she missed it until my food arrived over an hour after it was ordered.
Don't believe the hype. This place is a hard pass.

Was told about a two hour wait. No problem we put our names on the wait list and went up the road and came back about half an hour before to make sure we were there on time. 2 hours reaches so I just check with the hostess and says we still have 5 groups in front of us and will be roughly another half hour. No biggie. Another 45 minutes passes we see a new group of 3 come up to check the wait time. They start walking away and deciding where else to eat until they speak with a manager who seats them immediately. So I go check again with the hostess...somehow there are now 6 groups still ahead of us after an hour passed from the previous time I checked. We are irritated but committed already to eat here so we continue waiting. Meanwhile we see a group waiting with us and one goes to speak with the manager and he tells them they will be seated next. We ask how long they've been waiting and they tell us they just got there. I am still waiting 4 hours later as I am writing this. Hopefully the food makes up for it but unlikely I will return. Apparently you need to know the manager to even get a seat at this place.
This place had amazing service of kind people. The atmosphere was very comforting and enjoyable. Fun music. Lovely outdoor seating (and for all my neurodivergent girlies that are sound sensitive, outdoor is perfect seating with hearing the fun music but not feeling overstimulated). It felt as if I was visiting family. The menu had a variety unique items that celebrated soul and mexican flavors. I would definitely go back to try more.

Apparently we where there on Saturday and the waiter was over charging us double. I did see him pocket the money in his Jean jacket, the waiter had on a shorts and Jean vest. Please be aware if you get him as a waiter. He will over charge you.. He didn't even tell us that it cost extra for onions and tomatoes. Never going there again.

We got seated drink order was taken then we had to find someone to take our order. Food was just blah. No flavor barely warm. Biscuit was tough gravy was to think. The chilaquilas also just warm flavor was just there to hint at what it was supposed to be. Red sauce was also to thick.

Blasting music so INSANELY loud the speakers were distorted. Food is maybe a 6/10 and it’s expensive. This place will be gone in a
Year or two. Go to Matt’s big breakfast instead

This is a good spot for breakfast, and my friends and I were generally happy with the meal and overall experience. However, it would be great if more vegetarian and gluten-free options were added to the menu.

Soul food is soulless. The fried pigeon dry and salty and tiny portions. No breast and one nibble toothpick legs. Saw dust waffles. But the birthday ambience was nice
