While staying at the Canyon Villas, we had lunch at the pool side bar and grill twice. The first time we split Burger and fries and had the drink of the day and a beer and the cost was just under $50. We thought a $15 burger would be large enough to split. It wasn't. We had to share our meal with a swarm of bees. That was the ambiance. We got We thought perhaps they were so thick might be because we were the only ones there eating. We got ketchup and put that on a nearby table to try to get the bees away from us. I threw in the orange from my drink of the day to distract the bees. The service was okay except I ordered the drink of the day and was charged the regular price. Marriott has signs up saying no outside food or alcoholic beverages are allowed by the pool. I don't blame them. I don't know how else they're going to get business for their poolside bar and grill. I'm embarrassed to say we gave it a second try.

Some good poolside food and snacks. Great service, everyone really nice and friendly.

This property has a beautiful pool area but that is where the good ends because the unit that we were in was smaller than most Marriot timeshares and the unit was very run down. The unit was so small that the fixture in the dining area was not in the middle of the table so we kept hitting our heads on it. If we were to move the table the chairs hit the kitchen cabinets when pulled out. The tiles were chipped in many places, the carpet was stained, the couch was so stained that we covered it with a sheet before we would sit on it. The microwave broke, the refrigerator broke, and the temperature was unstable. The buildings were so close that instead of a relaxing open vacation feeling it was like a crowded city feeling. The staff was very nice and the concierge was very helpful but the physical property is not a good one. I think that Marriott is ruining their timeshare reputation by over building and making the units smaller.

The pools are great and the rooms were nice! Although the pool always ran out of towels! The day manager could use some people skills! Maybe send him to a couple of the Marriott management classes! He is not aware of the vacation club rules!

Lovely property, but I think it must have been a busy spring break and they had not had time to clean the pool area and never cleaned or freshened up thruout our entire stay. Sticky dirty tables and some chairs. Pool deck needed a good power washing. Upon check-in I was happy I brought my Clorox wipes. The previous guests must have been very hairy. The tub in the corners had hair. Not just a strand. And the floor also had hair in the corners and not clean. The sad part was it looked like the housekeeper made a failed attempt at cleaning bathroom. Housekeepers need to pay attention to obvious details. Found a dirty hand towel in the drawer. No excuse for any of what I found. And as others have stated if you have anyone above you you will know there every move. BUT beside all not so good there was a lot of good. We very much enjoyed our stay.

We were here when it was extremely warm out, over 100 degrees. The pools kept it cool as well as the fun activities, also able to use amenities at JW Marriott Resort, lazy river is great! The villas have plenty to do, with activities all day long, a great pool bar & grill, "Dive-in" movie at the pool, 2 pools and hot tub. Very spacious rooms for the 1 bedroom, the economy is just like a hotel room, but nicer! Bbq's onsite if that's your thing. I would definitely recommend, and we will be staying here again and again!

Overall, our family’s stay was pretty good. The room was fairly clean (not the cleanest, but nice enough) and the staff was generally very nice. The resort is pretty well maintained for the most part, with some areas a bit dated. The pool area is nice and the snack shack was good for food and drinks. It’s not a walkable resort for anything outside, such as food or drinks. That’s neither a good or bad, just something to think about. The room was generally ok. The shower in the second bathroom wouldn’t drain properly, but it was workable, so we didn’t pester the staff for a small’ish problem. The main bathroom’s toilet ran as well, but with the door closed, it wasn’t that big of a deal. They also cleaned the room once in 4 days. On the more disappointing side, when we asked for an extra hour for checkout (10am vs 11am), they were quick to just say “no” and send us on our way. We are lifetime Gold Marriott members and the room was immaculate and they still didn’t care. We also checked about 40 minutes after our request and nobody was cleaning the room, nor were any service staff members in the area at all. The front desk manager simply kept stating the same thing upon our request for more information, like he was a robot. So, while the resort was ok for the most part, the staff couldn’t have cared less about sending people away on a sour note. I will certainly think twice about staying again. Could be a 5 star resort if they fix up some things and treat the customers better, but for the moment, it’s a 3 star (very average) for now.

This is the second time we have been here and we love it. The rooms are huge and so much space (and very clean) with a full kitchen, laundry, living room , 2 bathrooms and in our case 2 bedrooms. Our room looked over the golf course which was great for morning coffee. We were a little far from the pool compared to last time but a short walk through a couple of buildings was easy. Pool might be considered smaller when comparing to other resorts but it was great. They actually have two pools (one for adults) and a nice waterfall, water volleyball net and basketball net for some extra pool fun. We also love the steel band playing calypso music during the day. All the staff we spoke to are friendly and always willing to help out with any questions we had or recommendations for dinner. A short drive and you have access to a bunch of restaurants and grocery. Great place for families.

We stayed at the Canyon Villas from the 12th to the 18th of January. The facility is beautiful and the staff very personable. We also spent a night at the Tempe Resident Inn as I was running in the RNR Arizona half marathon. That facility was great, and the room was perfect. I have two issues with our stay. The tile and carpet were so dirty that we wore socks the entire visit. Pictures are attached. The other issue is that we sadly left our Yeti 20oz coffee mugs in our room. We called within 1 1/2 hours of our check out and asked the representative to notify the staff and please mail them back to us at our expense. I know we were at fault for leaving these in the first place but given how quickly we called after check-out; I expected them to be found. I called the 18th, the 19th, the 20th and finally the 21st......each time I was told I would be hearing back on the status of our coffee cups, but we never did receive a call or e-mail. I finally file a lost and found report through the Marriott vacation club web site......again I am still waiting. We are owners at Newport Beach and have destination points. We have stayed at Ko Olina, Newport and Las Vegas....plus Canyon Villa on two other occasions. I have never experienced a lack of customer service. Very disappointed in this prpoerty.

My husband and I are long time owners of "weeks" and "points". We traded a week through Interval for a 2 bedroom condo. All the buildings have 3 floors. We were on the second floor and the noise level--stomping, talking, dragging furniture--above us was worse than any other Marriott condo timeshare we have stayed at, and we have stayed at a lot. That's the only complaint I have. The condo was clean, an easy walk to the pool and hot tub and reception and activities area. Our week was very cold for Phoenix, so the pool was deserted. But we enjoyed the hot tub. The included activities that we participated in were fun, like "candy bar bingo" and a cowboy singer. We had a good time exploring the area, and the weather was sunny and cool so good for hiking, which we did a lot of. We wandered over to the Marriott hotel but didn't use the pool, again because it was too cold for swimming. Our last (and only other) stay here was in the month of May, and it was very very hot, so we were happy to have the cool weather for outdoor activities. A very relaxing and enjoyable week.

I’d rate this place a 2.5 out of 5 but since I can’t do half stars I decided to be nice and round up. Came here with my family for a timeshare presentation. Got a 2 bedroom Villa and although everything initially started off well things turned for the worse. Af the end of the night before putting our kids to bed we found a DIRTY USED UNDERWEAR tucked between the headboard where the pillow were. We were appalled. You come to a hotel in hopes that they are clean and following guidelines but for us to find a dirty underwear shows that housekeeping is not doing a good job or not changing sheets because if they had been they would have clearly seen it. To make matters worse when we called the front desk to let them know Stewart the “manager in training” decided to give us attitude and brush it off as if it was nothing. He said it was something he would discuss with housekeeping but did not even apologize or sound shocked that this would happen. Instead he proceeded to tell us if it was him he wouldn’t mind staying and sleeping on that bed- obviously cleanliness is not something he seems to care about. He was a total j*** about the situation and when we asked to move rooms he made it sound like we were inconveniencing him. Thankfully we finally spoke with Brody the actual front desk manager who tried to rectify the situation. Needless to say after that experience everything else seemed mediocre. I will say location is good in proximity to other stores and places to eat. Did not use much of any amenity there so have nothing to say about that. Would not return to this specific location.

Extremely disappointed with the quality of the floor joists and subfloors between levels. It feel and sounds like a soccer match being played in unit above us. Probably will never stay here again. While the amenities are generally very nice, the furniture and toilets are too low. We are seniors.

We just returned from a 4 night stay at this property. Overall, it was a nice stay. We rented a studio/hotel room from a third party at a significant savings from what Marriott was offering. The furnishings were a bit dated and the shower curtain was quite possibly the ugliest thing I’ve ever seen, but everything was clean and in good working condition. We had a small refrigerator/freezer, microwave, toaster, coffee maker with coffee and filters, cutlery, plates, glasses and coffee mugs. They supplied dish soap, a sponge, paper towels and a couple boxes of single load laundry detergent. We did not receive housekeeping during our stay but when we called to replenish the shampoo, it was delivered within 10 minutes. We did not use the pools or any of the recreational areas but when walking around the property, everything looked clean and in good shape. We did uses the gym a couple of times and it was fine, clean and not crowded. They have one room for weight training and another for cardio. Both had good equipment and everything was in good condition. There were activities scheduled throughout the day ranging from arts and crafts to salsa making. Some came with a small fee, most were free. We did not eat at the restaurant or drink at the bar so I can’t comment there. There is a small store in the lobby as well as a wine dispenser system that came in handy our last night. We attended an award ceremony across the street at the JW Marriott resort and had nowhere to get a nightcap at 10:30pm there so we headed back to Canyon Villas and bought a bottle of wine and enjoyed it on the patio off the lobby. The JW Desert Ridge is a beautiful property to explore. It’s an easy walk from Canyon Villas. Take your room key to the registration desk at the JW and they will give you a special key for access to their pools. Prices are sky-high, $22 for chips, salsa and a small ramekin of guacamole. $70 bucks for a draft beer, 2 mixed drinks and a glass of Cabernet so be prepared. Desert Ridge Marketplace complex is just down the street, 5 minute drive or so, and has a bunch of restaurants and stores as well as an Albertsons grocery store. We had a couple of dinners here, Mexican at Barrio Queen and sandwiches and Salads at Thirsty Lion Gastropub. Both excellent. All in all, we had a great stay. My only big complaint would be about the lack of sound proofing. We were on the bottom floor and could hear every step, flush, shower and walk out to the balcony from the unit above. One morning it started before 6am so that is a consideration. Also, there is a lot of door slamming and banging. Our room was close to what I assume was a linen supply room and the housekeeper kept going in and out, letting the door bang on the latch. Very annoying when we were trying to take an afternoon nap. Finally, I would like to compliment the front desk staff who were always friendly and helpful. Book a stay here, just ask for a top floor room!

We had a nice upscale motel like accommodations with large studio like room with microwave, refrigerator, and (laundry service on site). Tennis court and golf course on site. Swimming pool and resturant on site.

We are every other year owners here. We hadn't been back for a few years. Arrived on a Saturday at 4pm. Front desk clerk was awesome. We got the building we wanted and a 2 bedroom 3rd floor golf course view. We were very happy. As we unpacked, I noticed a few things. Some mold in the shower. The towels all smelled really musty, like they had been stored in a damp basement for a few months. Not nice. Everything else was pretty clean. Then I saw something I remembered from our last visit. One of the sinks and the tub are open to the master bedroom. Over the tub are 3 square windows. No shades or blinds on them. That means that light would be pouring in early morning. I like a very dark room to sleep in. So, like last time, we went to the front desk and told them our problem. They said not to worry and someone would take care of it. We went to Albertson's for some groceries and picked up something from In n Out for dinner. When we came back to the villa about 1 1/2 hours later, we saw that the problem was fixed with some dark stuff taped over the windows. So now it's bedtime. Bed was comfy. Turned out the lights. Bright blinking light from the smoke detector. Very bright. Why does it have to blink?! Then, every minute or so, there would be a bright flash of light. Really didn't help me sleep at all. So now breakfast. Apparently the coffee maker doesn't get hot enough to actually affect the coffee grounds. That was a very big bummer for my husband. So now to the pool. Well, the main pool had music so loud we couldn't even talk to each other. Also, there is very little shade there so we went to the relaxation pool. Very nice. We did find some shade there but the next day, the shady spots were taken. We did go the main pool on another day and found some shade. The music volume then was fine. We had no problem parking. We played shuffleboard and cornhole. Some of the cornhole bags were ripped. A few of the tiles on one of the shuffleboard courts were coming up. Really not a big deal but we told the staff towards the end of our stay. We drove to Sedona and hiked. Shopped and ate at Desert Ridge. Basically just had a good time. Just need a few things fixed.
