Stopped by while on a work trip. Their Sumatran was amazing! Wasn't heavy at all. Their outdoor patio was busy. I went inside to skip the long line outside.

We were in Phoenix for just two days, and both mornings we were to Cartel Roasting for coffee. The place is super cute and you can walk up to the window and order for fast service. Both days I ordered an iced vanilla latte with oatmilk. Divine!! My friend got black coffee and said it was tasty as well.

Coffee was well done. Nice flavor and texture. Had a scone - it was wonderful. Super savory and soft. It wasn't warm, but that didn't matter - it was moist and very flavorful. Not much interaction, but easy to chat to the barista, and she knew the person behind me - so clearly a regular spot. Nice patio- but in the shade, so can be chilly/cool in the morning.

Excellent coffee shop. Their coffee is quite good and they have lots of pastries to choose from; including vegan and gluten free options. Their prickly pear donut is delicious ?. Friendly staff and good service. There are a few seats and tables just outside.

I ordered a pour over, which takes a bit of time, so the barista poured me a drip while I waited. It was an early day for me so I really appreciated that. It was also really nice to compare and contrast the drip with the pour over.

I'm in Phoenix for just 4 days but this is, hands down, the best little coffee shop in the downtown area. The flavor of the coffee is fantastic and if you're also a fan of cortado, they are great here. Not much in terms of food but this is a mighty little coffee shop.
