Chico Malo absolutely delivered! The food was exceptional—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Every dish felt thoughtfully crafted, and the presentation was on point. The service was just as impressive. The staff was friendly, attentive, and quick without ever feeling rushed. And the drinks? Next level. Their cocktails were creative, balanced, and honestly some of the best I’ve had in a while.

Overall, an outstanding experience from start to finish. I’ll definitely be coming back next time I’m in Arizona. Highly recommend!

*Sorry I have no pics. It was too good. 😊

We've dined at Chico Mala twice, the first time we went there for lunch & it was amazing....food was excellent & service top notch by Mika! It turned out that our server was also the manager which turned out to make such a difference. We could not wait to go back to Chico's for dinner. We went back for dinner on a Sunday evening & turned out not so good! Our server Chloe was so lacking that I thought a 10% tip was too generous & that's coming from me who normally tips between 20-25 % depending on our whole experience. My husband couldn't get his chicken entree because they were sold out as well was the duck. Husband had the pork instead & it came out looking like a dish from The Flinstones, not attractive! We decided on no desert we were so ready lo leave but ended up staring at our dirty plates that Chloe was clearly too lazy to clear from our table as we're waiting endlessly for our $142 check! Chloe had us waiting so long that we went over our 2 hour validated parking by 5 minutes! We left Chico Mala so dissatisfied promising that we'd never return & the majority of that decision came from the horrible service from our server Chloe that had such a flat personality that she does not belong in the hospitality business at all! My two star review is strictly on food the managers can thank Chloe for me removing the other three stars!

Went to Chico Malo to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday and everything was outstanding! I noted in our reservation the special occasion and everyone at the restaurant made sure to give my husband birthday wishes - so special. Our waitress Brittney was next level and gave us excellent recommendations. The food was nothing I can even describe it was so unbelievable and I am dreaming of when we can go back. Then to top it all off Brittney brought out sparklers and the most delicious bowl of ice cream for desert to celebrate my husbands big day. Highly, highly recommend this restaurant!! Five stars is not enough.

Came here for a private company dinner in the back room. Excellent waitstaff at that event. Love the view from the location and I appreciate their humorous quotes

My experience comes down to the food.
Service was good, ambiance is nice.

I ordered the chipotle cauliflower and my partner got birria. It came out fast but the cauliflower was clearly just boiled with sauce poured on top. Water was coming out of the cauliflower onto my plate and the middle was flavorless, just plane white boiled cauliflower. It was hard to cut and lacked flavor overall. My partner’s birria only came with 3 shells so he was left with a bowl full of beef lol and no sauces to go along with it, just some shredded cabbage and some cut up onion.

Not worth it for the price.

The grapefruit soda was homemade very delicious. It tasted like tepache. The molcajete was on point and the homemade tortillas were good. The churros omg, hot tasty and delicious.

Chico Malo is in a fun area with a lot going on. They have nice outdoor seating. The food was very good, but a little expensive for what it was. The service was ok. A little slow. They forgot our beverages and had to be reminded numerous times. Our entree came out just minutes after our appetizer. The restaurant is also energetic and pretty loud. Less so if sitting outside.

The atmosphere and vibe were fantastic. Friendly service. They accommodated our group of 8 without a problem. Drinks and food were priced well along with the portion size. Food was delicious!

To begin our birthday weekend getaway, my boyfriend and I went to Chico Malo for dinner and it's a place that I would definitely consider going again!

I made a reservation at 5:30pm, and we were seated quickly. The ambiance was lively yet intimate with dim lighting that fit with the Mexican-inspired aesthetic that invited people to party and socialize after a hard day of work.

We have a bowl of chips with two different salsas and guacamole as a complimentary appetizer, so we solely ordered our main dishes since we knew from the size of the appetizer would be enough to satisfy us both. Although, I had a smaller appetite than usual that evening, so I tried their Dorados de Papa- a shareable dish, but just the right amount that I needed to get me full, but not painfully so. As for my partner, he ordered the Sea Molcajete that comes with octopus, shrimp, clams, and more to make for one stunning dish. It's a large meal, so if you consider trying it, you better come in ravenous.

The server we had was very nice, checked up on us frequently, and even offered to take away a drink I had ordered and ended up not liking (my boyfriend drank it for me).

Overall, I'm glad I tried this place out and I would come back again and make sure I have more room to eat more food!

We needed fast service and good food last night! Coupled with InKind cash, Chico Malo provided a nice dinner with tasty cocktails before our event. Attentive waitstaff, attractive atmosphere, and nice location in downtown Phoenix made it a win!
