Went for a birthday dinner with a friend. Food was fantastic. Ordered the Molcajete, Shrimp, and Tuna Tostada. Molcajete was fantastic and can easily be shared between 2 people. Service was otherwise a little lacking, the hostess probably had an unhappy day. The server made up for it with the constant check-ins on the food. However, she placed a cup of ice cream on my table and I thought it was a birthday treat but found out after paying that it was charged to my card. Place was pretty noisy as well and there was a strong smell

Chico Malo is an overall 10/10, the food is amazing, the drinks are some of my favorite in the city & the service is the best. It's great for girls day, family dinner or a date & it's located in such a great location with lots to do afterwards. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Phoenix.

Outstanding food. Some of the best Mexican cuisine we've ever had. Duck and pork entrees were creatively plated. Elote was definitely the best we've ever had for flavor and texture. Gran Jefe margaritas were made from scratch and also some of the best we've ever had. We will definitely be back.

I had high hopes, but was quickly disappointed. The place was nearly empty so clearly others already knew what we did not. I am not a fan of restaurants who try to make you pay for every little thing. A Mexican restaurant, that makes you buy chips and salsa should not be allowed. We ordered enchiladas and it literally just includes enchiladas. You have to purchase sides separately. Not every restaurant needs to be a steakhouse. The enchiladas were mid. However, the Chorizo Mash was pretty good, I enjoyed it. The menu is very difficult to follow and read, so much so, the server made it a point to explain it. Anyway, there is potential, but we would not return.

Chico Malo is one of our downtown favorites. Everything is incredibly flavorful. Even their tortillas are perfect. The Pork Verde and Carne Asada are some of the best I've ever had. Service is outstanding. You just can't go wrong eating there.

It took 45 minutes to get our drinks. Completely unacceptable. Then they completely forgot our appetizer. Food was good but because of the horrible service I would not go again or tell anyone to go here. There are too many other great restaurants that provide good service as well!

OMG....the food was incredible. The ceviche was fresh and flavorfully, the salsa trio was yummy, and the chicken enchiladas were incredibly good! The cocktails are well balanced and inventive, while pairing perfectly with the spices in our food. But the service was really amazing! Kloe was attentive, informative, and fun. We had to move our table to accommodate a larger party next to us and she made it absolutely seamless for us. All in all, we can't wait to come back! 💜

Incredible experience. Not only did the food have an incredible presentation, but it was also delicious. The drinks were tasty and the restaurant is clean and has great decor. We had Dallas as our server for the second time he is one of the best servers I've ever had in my life.

Chico Malo absolutely delivered! The food was exceptional—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Every dish felt thoughtfully crafted, and the presentation was on point. The service was just as impressive. The staff was friendly, attentive, and quick without ever feeling rushed. And the drinks? Next level. Their cocktails were creative, balanced, and honestly some of the best I’ve had in a while.
Overall, an outstanding experience from start to finish. I’ll definitely be coming back next time I’m in Arizona. Highly recommend!
