Fantastic sandwich shop with many satisfying and beautifully made choices.

Tried this place for the first time on 05/24 and was not disappointed. We got a BTC and a Smokey and both were delicious. Love the local wares for sale and the down home vibe. This place is definitely a treasure in PHX.

This is the best sandwich shop in Phoenix. My husband and I are here almost every Saturday, we steep their tea at home, and to top it all off, they catered our wedding.

These are straightforward sandwiches, built with quality ingredients, with a certain old world charm. I highly recommend that you trust their craft. Order one of their signature sandwiches. You can treat it like a subway and build your own, but you'll get an inferior product. Trust their recipes.

I'd list my favorites, but it would be every sandwich on their menu, save one, their namesake. The duckling mostly tastes like cream cheese and cranberry, so why spend the money on the sliced duck?

The first floor is primarily a small grocery store featuring a nice mix of European and local shelf stable goods. They also have an elevated selection of wines, beers, cheese, coffee, and loose leaf tea.

When the weather is good, there is plenty of lovely outdoor seating, and in the summer the indoor seating will do just fine. All sandwiches come in a brown lunch sack so this can also be your first stop on a picnic at piestewa or papago.

I've been eating at The Duck since the 70'sc and it has never failed to disappoint.

Went for the first time, easy ordering setup and friendly staff. I ordered the full size Bacon, Egg, Cheese breakfast burrito, and it was sadly a borderline rip off. The “full size” burrito was teeny tiny and had what seemed like microwaveable bacon. It had very little flavor and came with a basic store bought salsa. Definitely not worth the $10 price. Their lunch options might be a better value, but would stay away from the breakfast items if you’re looking for a decent value.

Always fun to hit up the Duck! Been going here since college, and that was in the early 90's so, yeah it's been a while & they're still as great as ever. Love the larger newer patio out front too. I think that was for COVID bc/it had been forever since I'd been back so not sure when it was added but great extra space when the weather is lovely which is one of the best times to visit. Never had a bad sandwich & was always fun for wine & live music back in the day.

This was a tough one. I love this place. I don't normally give five stars to a place like this, but I had to. It's really yummy and it's been there forever. And definitely worth a stop. Plus it's a neat old building.

What do you do when you’re heartbroken, sweaty from a post-gym meltdown, and suddenly starving for something other than emotional closure? You go to The Duck & Decanter, obviously.

This local gem in Phoenix has become my faithful go-to for midday soul-soothing, and not just because the name makes me feel oddly fancy for someone who cried in the Eos parking lot. I ordered The Duckling (because we love a sandwich that matches our emotional state) and an iced tea, then claimed a spot on the patio like I was the main character in an indie film titled “Healing, But Make It Tasty.”

The sandwich? Glorious. The tea? Restorative. The patio? A little slice of Phoenix peace before the sun decides we’ve had too much fun and cranks things up to lava.

Honestly, this place hits all the marks: cozy, iconic, unfussy, and full of the kind of comfort food that reminds you you’re gonna be okay, even if Beau, the gorgeous auburn haired Swiss boy, broke up with you after saying “I love you!”

10/10. Will absolutely be back, heartbreak optional, appetite mandatory.

I placed an order over $250 and was given a huge box full of 21 sandwiches and not one smile not one ‘can we help you out’ not one thank you. In this day when a sandwich can basically be a sandwich I will not be going back for the not so good customer service. the parking is awful and you have to walk quite a way to get there and not an offer to help absolutely turned me off.
The outdoor seating area is cute and the small shop inside had some fun things but I will not be ordering from here again. I hope you have a better experience.
**update the creamy chicken sandwich was freakin delicious! I didn’t want to like it but it was really flavorful. I was told the turkey sandwich on sourdough was pretty good as well. If you are eating it you won’t e disappointed. Sandwiches come with a crispy pickle on the side!

I've been coming here over three decades, know
many family members and even wrote positive stories about them in my long-since retired community publication. It was some time before I got back down to Camelback Road. Twice in a matter of a month I've ordered out the same item:
Mini-albacore on LIGHT RYE with mayo, mustard, cheese, lettuce and NO tomato. Simple, right? This last visit was an utter disaster. Picked up the order and drove home anticipating the sandwich. No. 1 issue: NOT on the bread I requested: light rye, instead something resembling a marble rye; No. 2, absolutely careless sandwich construction. It was so saturated with mayo, it stuck to the paper it was wrapped in. I wouldn't come loose until the bread fell apart; No 3, their tuna tasted like smelly feet.
All in all, terrible. Being busy after so many decades in business is wonderful. Losing site of quality both between personnel and food can't be overlooked. I am done with them and the worst thing about this review, they won't even care.

Great as ever. Sandwiches are custom made to order. Pick types of bread, meats (or veggies), cheese, lettuce, tomato, & condiments. Selection of sides and drinks. Also has wine & beer bar. You can also buy a good selection of coffee beans & tea leaves. We make the trek here at least once a quarter & have been for over 20 years.

I'll have to come back there some day. I loved the atmosphere on a cloudy afternoon while having a Pennsylvania Dutch Treat sandwich. I remember when the Berridge Nursery was across the way there. before that shopping center sprouted up there.

Funky spot with delicious food! Friendly staff and fast service, can't recommend this place and their sandwiches enough!

I am a big fan of D&D and have been for years. I will say however, that I unfortunately have stopped coming here due to their meat portions. My favorite is the Ruben and while it’s an $11ish sandwich, there are times where there is hardly but one slice of meat folded in half between the bread. I don’t have a recent photo, but you can take a look at all of these other posts that do have photos and see for yourself that it is this way with all of their sandwiches. Very unfortunate. They have their flavors down but their meat portions should improve.
