So I was with a friend and I was dying of thirst and I wanted a Dr Pepper along with some fries until I found out I left my money at home so I got my friend to get the Dr Pepper only to get into traffic and find out my Dr Pepper is flat Bland and watery what are stopped and got another at Circle K but the but the feds were there 🫢 anyways my point is fix the soda machine
Been going here for 5 years. One of the best hole in the walls I've ever been to. There's always a line out the door because it's so good people are willing to wait.
The best Sonoran food in the Phoenix area. My go to is the enchilada style burrito (#5) with red sauce. But their whole menu is absolutely fire. Pollo fundido, carne asada fries, tamales, tostado, even the burger is lit.
It's cash only, but there's an atm in site.

Authentic, low-key Mexican spot. Their machaca is fantastic. I enjoyed it in a chimichanga. It's counter-serve and they only have outdoor seating. Also cash-only!

Good portions, somewhat bland, salsas have little flavor. And they don't take debit/ credit hence the low rating.

We stopped in for a quick lunch so my friend could give this establishment a try. The staff is friendly and takes your order quickly. I had the machaca chimichanga which had a sauce on it, with rice and beans. I wasn’t quite sure what kind of sauce it was, an enchilada, green chile or brown sauce - but it was rather bland tasting. The portion sizes are good, however, the flavors didn’t seem as good as they used to be here. Not sure if it was an off day or if they’ve changed cooks. My friend had the machaca enchilada style with rice and beans. He is a big Mexican food fan and wasn’t impressed either.

I couldn't possibly speak more highly of El norteno and how they keep the downtown community fed. They're one of the few places left with lunch and dinner specials that are actually affordable, and they're delicious to boot.
Everyone that works here is very friendly, but please keep in mind that it is a cash only establishment to keep prices down and avoid transaction fees.

Hole in the wall “fast” Mexican food with an authentic feel (and taste). What else needs to be said?

Placed an order over the phone for a burrito grande red chilli enchilada style asked specifically for no sour cream. Dont like it any bit what so ever. Had extra sour cream in it. And tried to eat around it started to scoop the parts with no sour cream and a random hair in side the burrito great way to waste 15 to not eat and called before they close and still didn't answer to try to get this situation resolved, threw it out hope it doesn't happen again good soda appreciate it
