El Zaguan is a small, quaint shop in downtown Phoenix. I was warmly welcomed with humor and grace. I ordered the chilaquiles, which were an amazing combination of crunchy tortilla chips, crema, cotija cheese, and hot sauce (choose red or green, but red is better in this dish). Following the recommendation, I added an extra egg, and glad I did so the chips had more to soak up. The Mexican coffee was an amazing blend of coffee and spices, and though I don't usually want sugar...
This is a fun little Mexican place near our hotel. We ended up talking with the owners about baseball, since we were headed to a game just down the street. Lovely people. Great food! Dave had a burrito birria and I had the flautas. Yummy! Loved the decorations too.
This is my third trip to Phoenix, but the first time I found this place. It’s the best food I’ve ever had in the valley! Small, intimate, super welcoming vibe. I felt like a local. Absolutely magnificent experience!
