Unpleasant, horrible customer service. Whoever was wearing glasses and taking our order should work on her customer service and attitude in general. Our first reaction was: “I would never want to be friends with this girl.” It kind of ruined our experience to be honest. Although the croissants are good, we are never coming back. The coffee was not good either. If you charge almost $20 for a breakfast plate, shouldn’t you be providing good food OR good customer service at least? I saw neither in my visit. The breakfast plate was small and depressingly looking. We were deeply disappointed.

Dare I say it, this is the perfect breakfast/lunch place. Their pastries are incredible (the almond croissant in particular is insane). Great coffee. Amazing loaves of bread. And a nice breakfast and lunch menu that you can eat in or take to-go. This is a gem of a cafe, with great values to boot.

My favorite place in AZ!

The pastries are always good, always. I come from out of town and always make it a point to stop by, no matter if I’m miles away. Problem is, customer service. I’ve never had bad customer service, for the years I’ve come. But, this time was different. I simply asked the girl in the front if it were possible to could cut my pastry in half, she smirked in my face and then laughed, and said, “no, we don’t do that.” It was as if I asked her to build me a house. I won’t be coming back, ever again. I love your pastries, but not enough to be disrespected.

Absolutely horrible, make sure to check your food carefully before leaving. I drove for an hour to come purchase many food items from this bakery. One of those items was the quiche Lorraine from their quick service area. When I got home I discovered both of the quiche's had mold growing all over them due to the bakery not safely storing their refrigerated goods that were obviously left out over the weekend. This is a major health hazard and I may even report it to the health department. After I complained I was refunded but nothing was done to compensate for this issue. Essence Bakery did not offer to replace the food items or comp my bill as a properly managed food establishment should. I recommend finding another bakery to eat at if not, eat here your own risk for food poisoning.

Thank you for providing such delicious food for my 86 birthday luncheon. The quiche,, green salad, baguette and peach pies were all delicious. Everyone was delighted with all the food.

Honestly can not believe this place is not higher rated. Bakery is top notch, best macaroon I’ve ever tried. Breakfast food is also very good! Coffee is good. Ambiance is calm and it does get busy. Service is friendly.

Essence Bakery could easily be a 5 star. Unfortunately, it's run by a petty owner with great pastry experience. But very poor customer service and respect. This is reflected and shown to regulars and staff. The staff is always polite, but the owner is very egotistical. You'll have a more pleasant experience with Door Dash. Then, a face to face customer experience with the owner.

This bakery is a community gem, delicious flavorful and fresh everything. The chef Eugenia an acclaimed pastry chef and her husband frequently step into the dinning area to say hello. A truly special experience.

I stopped by while out running errands to grab a couple of breakfast sandwiches and some pastries to-go for my neighbors. I had my small Maltese with me and, while placing my order, I was approached by an older woman, possibly a manager or chef, who touched my dog’s leash and asked if he was a service animal. I said no and mentioned I hadn’t seen any signage on the door about pets or service animals.

She referenced health inspection regulations, which I completely understand. I let her know we’d just place our order to-go and head outside. However, I was then asked to leave entirely, which felt unnecessary and unkind.

The croissants and macarons are truly delicious, but the service today didn’t reflect the same warmth. It was over 100 degrees outside, so leaving my dog in the car simply wasn’t an option. I wish the situation had been handled with a little more understanding and care.

Best croissant in Arizona! I absolutely loved everything that I tried! Wonderful chef couple and legit scratch made pastry! There is nothing like this in Arizona in my opinion. if you haven’t had the chance to try this place it is the best croissant I’ve had since Paris. Go!
