We enjoyed an early dinner on the patio mid week. It was quiet and beautiful. Service was top-notch. I loved the variety of vegetarian and vegan option available. Most restaurants only offer 1 maybe two options, I had several.

A very relaxing day spent at the botanical gardens. Lunch outside at Gertrude's was very nice. Our server Katherine was very helpful and attentive. Had the Root Vegetable salad with grilled chicken. It was the small portion and just enough for a light lunch. Very tasty.

We dined on the patio which had very scratchy annoying speakers playing varied music. The food was ok, I had a deconstructed tamale that had too many mashed beans. My drink was awful but probably my fault I didn't read the description better - a splash of red wine poured into a blue something, ick. The waiter was great, friendly and professional. I have had better experiences in this restaurant so I certainly will go back.

Love to eat outside on Gertrude's patio whenever I go to the DBG -- great atmosphere, surrounded on 3 sides by actual DBG garden. Food normally good to excellent, but somewhat pricey. This visit, I had the Caesar salad with added salmon filet, which was excellent.

Easy to reserve, accommodating of a large group, servers were all friendly and patient with us. Food was really good. Like, really good. Just know you will pay for the elevated experience - but other than that, I would highly recommend and return.

We had a nice lunch. The hamburger was good. Two of us had the noodle dish. We were both a bit disappointed. It was rather bland. I think it has too much garlic, but not enough spice. It was rather tasteless. We just had soft drinks, but amazing drinks were being served in lovely glasses.
Just bleh. Five people, ordered many items. Food prep and quality low. Salmon add-on $16 for a skinny tail piece that tasted freezer burnt. Lentils in salad were a clump of mush. Lots of fried items, unhealthily cooked. Bathrooms messy and garbages overflowing. Terrible music. BUT atmosphere was nice. The overall experience was enjoyable enough🤷🏽

I’ve been to the Phoenix Botanical Gardens a number of times, and I’m really embarrassed to say that I never even knew Gertrude’s was here, and that I could have an upscale dining experience at such an affordable price point.
Our server was awesome, and the Tamales plate was absolutely fire. Everything was so fresh, and the ingredients were thoughtfully combined. I was expecting museum cafeteria and I got fine dining (minus the pomp and circumstance that the rich love to get off to). Forgive my crude comments, y’all, and give Gertrude’s a chance. Enjoy the garden, devour a delicious meal, and impress your significant other with your superior tastes.
