We were fortunate to get a last meal at Gertrude’s on their last day of operation. Will miss the SW-inspired dishes!

We really enjoyed Gertrude’s. The ambience was very relaxing the food was great and the service was exceptional. We ended the evening with the walk-through the gardens. It was a lovely night.
Best food of our trip.
My wife and I did a 2500 mile counterclockwise EV road trip from SouthWest Oregon to Phoenix and north through Monument Valley, Zion NP, Bryce, SLC, Boise, and home.
Our most memorable meal of the trip was Gertrude’s. The waiter was attentive. The food delicious and made from fresh ingredients. Cold beer.
We had nothing fancy- cold soup of the day, fritters, shaved root salad, and a beer. I’m sure the full meals are great as well.
The quality of the food is fine dining level. I’d love to return for one of the main courses.
Despite the proximity, our waiter told us that the desert botanical garden and Gertrude’s are unrelated venues. What a pleasant surprise after viewing the desert gardens.
We got in at 1100 am on an off-season weekday without reservations, but do make reservations.
Update. Closed for good. From the reservations page:
“After 13 wonderful years, we are bidding a heartfelt farewell with Hause Restaurant Group, which operates Gertrude's Restaurant. Operations will officially close after service on May 31st. Thank you for the memories, meals and magic. Stay tuned for what's cooking next.”

I picked Gertrude's for breakfast today because a friend of mine was visiting from out of town and I wanted something lovely that had good food that was close to the airport. Score on all fronts! The service was excellent and the food was ridiculously good. Also was a very reasonable price

Delicious food! A bit expensive, but it's a fancy restaurant, and high quality service/food. Sadly, it is closing at the end of May 2025.

The place is really pretty, you need to have a reservation the restaurant is always busy, the host was a little rude, service was super slow, food has a good flavor but for my taste to much seasoned. Hight prices but portions of the food good enough.

The staff was amazing. Very friendly and talkative. The food was a let down, very bland and dry. I got the burger and the bread was a brick.

Popped in for a bite before touring the gardens & was so happy we did! The portions are quite large, the food was quick, & the service pleasant. I had a rice noodle bowl with tofu that blew my socks off. I’ll be dreaming of that meal for a while

Gertrude’s is Nestled in the entrance of the botanical gardens, surrounded by wonderful scenery and the quiet botanical garden. The atmosphere is quaint. The food has a Sonoran flare. Some dishes are culturally influenced. The dishes are perfectly portioned. It’s best to share that way you can enjoy all the different dishes
Elyssa was our server and was very attentive and gave wonderful hospitality.

Mother's Day Brunch and a walk through the garden was a great way to spend the morning. Their Eggs Benny are amazing!

On mother's day, in 104° weather. I asked if my baby and I could sit and get a drink. They said we could only sit outside, even though there were at least 7 tables open. It wasn't lunch time, there was no one else waiting, we weren't going to take a table from someone. I was going to buy something. Still they would only put us outside in the heat.

Located inside the botanical garden .
Today is Mother’s Day , I’ll understand you have to make reservations, but if you walk into a restaurant where there are at least 5-7 tables open and tell you the wait is 2 hours makes no sense to me .
Don’t go there if you don’t have reservations ,they don’t know how to run a business on a busy day with lots of foot traffic .
Great food went for brunch /lunch and the service, which was awesome as well as the food . Was 100 degrees and sat outside on the patio which was covered and cool. We had reservations which is highly recommend.
