Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken

Best fried chicken I've had since I moved to mainland USA. Big, and juicy and so spicy it made me sweat! It might be pricier than getting Popeyes or KFC but the quality is well worth it.

Ordered the fried catfish lunch special. Small portions, and way over cooked. No malt vinegar to moisten the fish up. Sad. Should've ordered the chicken. Looks like broasted recipe.

The food was incredibly delicious. The service was really slow! We did wait over 30 minutes for our food and we were the ONLY ppl sitting down dining. We paid $60+ for 2 adult entrees, 1 child meal, and 1 appetizer. A bit pricey as well.

I really wanted to fry me some chicken wings which I do very well but I was tired so I drove to this establishment being that I asked a few of my coworkers had they tried it, 2 of them stated that chicken was good so off I went driving from 52nd/Rio Salado Tempe to 48th/Ray rd, I ordered 3 wings with Mac/cheese and greens and a ala carte chicken breast, got home and ready to eat What a disappointment! Chicken wings were wayyyyy overcooked with no flavor whatsoever, Mac/Cheese very bland, greens straight out the can, didn’t even finish food, trash it went and I went to Popeyes, I won’t be going back to Gus’s sorry y’all

The beans were delicious, and I really enjoyed the sides and bread. But the chicken didn’t seem fully fried, there was no crunch at all. On top of that, it was so hot I couldn’t eat it right away. I was hungry, so I ended up finishing all my sides and bread first, but still struggled to get through even one piece of chicken because of the temperature. My partner had the same issue, and we ended up taking the rest home. I went to get Panda Express after.

Was searching for that spot-on soul food in the Tempe/South Phoenix area. Gus's hit that, and then some! Our server, Ricardo, was helpful and attentive right from the moment we sat down. Started with the fried pickles. Fresh, highly- refined peanut oil is used for the fried foods. (It makes all the difference and is hypoallergenic for those concerned.) I knew from the first perfect crunch of that pickle spear we were home. The chicken is fried fresh to order. I put in for a breast and wing. Fried chicken cooks know that is a brave combo to offer in a fresh fried place. The wing always threatens to dry out before the breast cooks through. Both were insanely crunchy and cooked to perfection. So juicy on the inside. The beans, slaw, and greens were amazing as well. The manager, Sean, came out to check on us as we wrapped up our dinner... with the slices of the best sweet potato pie I've had in a restaurant. I told him what I'm telling you... every bite was amazing. They all have something to be proud of at Gus's.... and you can taste the love.

6 bucks for a piece of chicken is outrageous. This guy is going to price himself right out of the market. It's sad, because the chicken is okay. Prices are ridiculously high. Wake up

This restaurant is simply amazing. It really has the best fried chicken and amazing service. The manager Mike came around to personally ask everyone how the food was and was very very attentive. Michelle was a great server who always asked if we needed anything as well. Overall a great place to eat with your family or friends. It does not disappoint. WOW is all I can say.
