Normally I never leave reviews but this place warrants the flak. Spartan Pita was the best deal on a gyro price /flavor ratio in Phoenix by far for almost all of 2023. I actually can't count how many times I've gone in after work or whenever for my favorite feel good food. Somewhere around November the quality took a nosedive, their gyros had 1/4 to a 1/3 less meat, all you could taste was onions and oftentimes stale pita bread. On top of that at the same time this was happening their tzatziki sauce produced an off, foul taste of cucumbers in the most wrong way. I gave them about a half dozen tries after portions got smaller and the bread got staler. But being a gyro shop that can't make a proper tzatziki sauce was my line in the sand. Another restaurant lost due to profit obsession.

Just ate there today, 01/03/24. It is called Gyro 101 now. To avoid confusion with other locations, this review is for 4502 E Thomas Rd, Phx. We had kibbe and hummus. The hummus was satisfying and was accompanied with a nice stack of pita bread. The kibbe (football shape) was delicious. The restaurant and restroom were very clean. The soda fountain is out of operation but they had cans of Coke and Pepsi products. Going back for more kibbe.

Please update this as closed it's not Spartans anymore and now they don't have the same orders, the prices are higher, the food is not good. Gyro overcooked and no drink machine so you have to pay extra for drinks. They have people still coming here thinking it's Spartans... not cool.

new ownership. Think it's called gyro 101 Arcadia on the receipt. Overcooked falafel and the inside tastes bland like Elmer's glue. Baklava tasted like drywall not sure how long it has been sitting on the shelf. It was aged as a rock and bland. Told the lady and she shrugged it off. Water tasted like toilet water. Don't waste your time. Go somewhere else.

I've lived in Phoenix for 3 years and this is the best food i've ever eaten here. The portions are big and the food is amazing and affordable. The chicken souvlaki plate is so good and I love the Tzatziki sauce.

Imagine going somewhere and ordering a side of fries, chicken nuggets/tenders, or heck, even a salad, and then having to pay *extra* for a sauce/dressing that *should* have come with it. And not even a reasonable amount for the sauce, imagine going somewhere and finding out that they'll charge you an extra $2 (instead of the typical $0.50-0.75) for your side of ketchup. That's pretty much what this place is. Ordered the gyro bowl (literally any "bowl" from anywhere else will include a dressing!) and now I'm just staring at this dry bowl of shaved meat that I'll probably just give to my dogs. Two stars because it was at least quick, though inedible.

Everything here is okay.Staff-- Very friendly and helpful when deciding what to getAtmosphere-- They were blasting NBC news while we were there, so not the best vibes to eat with with all of the negativity on TV todayFood-- Nothing special, neither greasy nor fresh. The flavors were all a bit dull or a bit off.TLDR; if you want decidedly meh greek food, this is your spot.

The food here is amazing! I ordered off Doordash and realized when I went to write this review they closed right before they accepted my order. I know they didn't have to, but sure glad they did. Got the hugest gyro pita add pickles and lettuce. The pickles are sour and crunchy and I belive house made. I have never had a pickle like that from a can from the store! The gyro meat is so tender and tasty, the tzatzikki is the best I have ever had and the baklava was not overly sweet, and very crispy. My husband had the grilled chicken and it was very tender and tasty. I will defenitly be coming back regularly.

We wanted to try a new Greek place and Spartan came up on Yelp. We tried a few items and they were all alright. The feta fries were really tasty. Their chicken pita was ok. The hummus was also fine, but not as flavorful as I would typically like. If you're in the area, it's not a bad place to stop.

LOOKED UP A place to get Falafel to go. Spartan gave me 6 pieces and I've onlly eaten 3 and am full! Delicious falafel. With Tahini and a side of tzatiki sauce. And the best part are the super friendly people who own the restaurant. Thanks ill be back.

This spot is pretty darn good for a standard gyro and fries. They also have some nice unsweetened tea flavors as well. The gyro meat and fillings were fresh and flavorful. I liked how the onion was a purple onion and was diced in cubes. It was a nice touch. Part of my pita was a bit hard and the wrapper of my pita was greasy. Other than those small things, everything was great. I enjoyed the fries as well. They're standard fries yet they weren't too greasy and they were salted nicely.

I love Greek/Mediterranean food and have eaten at a lot of different places all around the country. I'd like to think I have a good amount of experience to add to every Greek review that I do so I will try my best to do just that.Overall, the food was pretty dope and tasted very authentic. The gyro (not shawarma) was cut fresh and the string beans were amazing (see photo). Also probably THE best tzatziki I've ever tried from a place like this and that's saying a lot. Flavor is hard to nail for me because of how picky I am but I cant complain at all. Dude was whippin' it back there and did his thing. The ONLY reason why I'm not giving this 5 stars, which should not in any way deter anyone from coming here, is because the rice was bland and had no seasoning. Were it not for the gyro juices, and the absolute SMACKING sauce, there wouldn't have been any flavor to the rice whatsoever. I would definitely eat here again but probably get the fries.
