Try the lil dyno roll! Baked to perfection. The staff was great and you can tell they care about their reputation. Good food and fair prices.

Everything about the experience was amazing. From the service, where everyone helps out, to the food, which had an amazing fuji apple cream puff pie dessert. I loved spending my dinner here with my wife. It was perfect.

I've been going to Hana since the day it opened, and I don't know why it took so long to write a review. It never ceases to amaze me that one of the best sushi experiences in the nation (and I've dined at some of the best rated sushi and omakase experiences in the US) is in Phoenix, Arizona, at such an unassuming place.

But the quality of the fish is what stands out, and the variety, as well. You're going to see menu items here that you don't routinely experience at other locations, in Phoenix or elsewhere. The fish isn't cut by just anyone- watching the chefs at Hana cut fish is watching art be made by caring people. The amounts are generous, and each piece of fish is treated like a valuable gem. It speaks volumes that they don't allow any 3rd party delivery services because they can't ensure quality. The fish case is always meticulously clean and organized. You can get real wasabi, and a carefully curated spirit. The restaurant is owned by a real Japanese family, not some fly by night corporation.

The restaurant has almost no turnover. The same servers have been there for years, same for the kitchen. Its mostly family, and they treat you like family. This isn't your typical high end, dark, decorated space. It's homey and comfortable, and you'll be treated respectfully. No trip to Arizona is complete without hitting Hana once a week. If this place ever goes out of business, I'll cry.

Our group dined at Hana last week, and unfortunately, all of us ended up getting sick. We experienced abdominal pain and diarrhea, which we believe was the result of food poisoning from the meal we were served.

When we reached out to the owner, she showed no empathy or concern. She claimed that no one else who ordered the same sushi rolls reported feeling sick that evening. Interestingly, our reservation was under a different name than the one used in the follow-up email, which suggests she didn’t take the time to properly investigate our complaint.

During the dinner, we also raised concerns about one of the sushi rolls falling apart. Both the server and the owner told us to eat it with a fork. Sushi should not fall apart, and it certainly shouldn’t have to be eaten with a fork.

I will never return. It’s been a week, and only two out of the three of us are finally starting to feel better.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
If I could give more than five stars, I would.

Hana Japanese Eatery is hands down my favorite sushi spot—not just in Phoenix, but in all of Arizona. From the moment you walk in, you feel like you’ve stumbled upon a hidden gem in Tokyo, tucked right into the heart of central Phoenix. The vibe is warm, welcoming, and authentically local—a neighborhood spot that feels both elevated and grounded.

The quality of the fish is absolutely off the charts—the kind of freshness and melt-in-your-mouth perfection you usually only find oceanside. Every bite is crafted with precision and respect for the art of sushi. The presentation? Impeccable. The flavors? Unforgettable.

But it’s not just the food—the service is out of this world. The staff treats you like family. They’re attentive without being overbearing and genuinely care about your experience. It’s rare to find a place where hospitality, atmosphere, and culinary excellence all align so perfectly.

If you haven’t been, go. If you’ve been, you already know.
Hana is the real deal.

We arrived right when the restaurant opened and we were treated with immense hospitality! Everything came out quickly and the food was prepared well. I would have to recommend the scallop special to anyone going here; it was delicious!

Maybe the best salmon sashimi I've ever eaten. Delicious sea bass.
Good sake selection

Stop by. Super tasty sushi!! We had yellowtail, rainbow roll, caterpillar roll, and their signature Hana roll. Don’t miss their poki chips as well. Some solid signature rolls, a variety of Japanese whiskies, and beers along with unique cocktails. Fresh wasabi!!!!

This restaurant deserves all 5 stars. The Itamae (head sushi chef) took the time out to explain the different styles and types of dishes. I definitely will be going back there to try the other sushi that recommended.

This has been our go to sushi place for a while now ...we visit about twice a month and the food has always been so fresh and amazing.....

Unfortunately the last 2 times the quality is completely different ?. Not sure what changed but the food is really bad. The fish has an odor and is definitely not bright and vibrant as we were used to.

I assumed last time we visited it was a fluke but after this happened to us yet again ...Unfortunately I have no desire to come back and we ended up throwing most of the sushi away because we didn't want to eat fish that wasn't fresh.

Really disappointed and so sad to have to find a new restaurant ?
