Hands down my favorite place in Ahwatukee. After every mountain bike ride at SoMo, me and the boys hit up hillside for a wide selection of craft beers, even after a 8am Sunday ride-they don’t judge, the best pancakes I’ve ever had and I’m not a pancake guy, the most amazing chorizo breakfast burrito and I am a breakfast burrito guy, great staff not afraid to bust your balls if they like you, and an even better laid-back atmosphere. This place is a real gem.

Outstanding spot for brunch. Food is always fresh & delicious. Staff is friendly and attentive. Pet-friendly. A favorite place to stop after hiking Pima Canyon.

Breakfast food is average. Had much better omlettes at other places in the past, but was fresh. Sandwiches are good, but fries lacked crisp and flavor. Waitress was awesome and people around were lively and all seemed friendly and happy they were there. That makes it a good place to go. Probably better in warmer weather with patio.

Had to ask to get my mocha which sat for some time at the bay. I ordered an omelet with hash browns and toast. My omelet had the wrong cheese which I asked for cheddar and got mozzarella and was missing the green chilies. Most boring omelet I ever had. Waiter wrote our order on his hand. The hash browns looked wimpy like strings of charred potatoes barely even there to satisfy. My toast seemed old and dry like it had been sitting there for some time. I'm annoyed

The restaurant was very nice and we asked to sit outside. Our table was directly in the sun until a waiter offered to put up a parasol for us. The service was good but I think the food was a bit sub par. I also had to specifically ask for sugar after I got my coffee. We got an avocado toast with an egg and a breakfast burrito. They were okay, nothing amazing. The waiter was very sweet though.

The first visit we were greeted by whom I believe may have been the owner.
Today was my second visit in which I happened to bring a family member along.
I would like to think that this is an inclusive space, but this trip today..I had a couple seated across from me where the husband simply kept rolling his eyes in disgust.
My educated guess is that caucasian patrons are not used to seeing African American patrons?
I’ve added a picture of the patron who had an eye rolling problem….. though I didn’t realize he was in the picture until writing this review.
It was the most baffling experience as my family and I go out to eat often, and Rarely experience this type of behavior from others while eating. It was very weird to say the least..
Matthew was the best host that we could have had, and the food is warm but good.
Won’t be back for a little while, but maybe management will consider adding a sign that says “All are welcome” if this is truly the case.

Advice to the manager of Hillside Spot. I ate at your restaurant today and have a few suggestions to improve the experience. First, waiters and waitresses should always ask their customers if there is anything else that they need when delivering their orders. I ordered a carne asada torta that didn’t include salsa either on it or on the side. Our food was delivered by other staff, and our waiter never returned to our table to check on us until the very end of the meal. I was unable to get one of the other staff’s attention and finally had to walk up to the kitchen staff and request salsa, which they promptly gave me. Second, your waiters and waitresses should always check on how their guests are enjoying their meals. Almost half of the meat in my carne asada torta was badly burned which ruined the flavor. I tried picking the really bad pieces out of the sandwich as I had waited too long trying to get the salsa that it was too late to send it back as most of my party were finishing their meals. This could have been avoided if you had a second set of eyes on every dish leaving your kitchen. I left with a bad taste in my mouth and was glad that I had an extra mint in my pocket. I have always enjoyed eating at Hillside Spot as the they have a number of great options on the menu for both breakfast and lunch, however, this is not the first time I have gotten a bad meal and poor service. They did appear to be busy and our waiter appeared to be many handling tables all over the restaurant both inside and out, so maybe if they did a better job of staffing and managing staff, the quality of the food and the experience would improve, so I am not giving up on Hillside Spot just yet as I have had a lot of great meals there in the past.

We had lunch here. This would be a great breakfast or lunch spot. The interior is what I'm going to call nouveau rustic. It has a central bar and outdoor seating--great atmosphere.
The food was awesome! I had a breakfast torta, and it was delicious. My son had a guacamole burger and loved it. Good menu selections. The service was excellent and we got out food fast. Definitely recommend.

Quoted 5 to 10 minute wait for patio, wait was over 30 minutes with only 2 tables on the entire patio occupied. Folks who arrived AFTER us were seated before us and GREETED before us. We waited a long time for service, they apologized said server busy.....
Waited long time for a burnt luke warm grilled cheese and fries that were hard as a brick. Fish tacos were liaded with greens but hardly any fish.
Visit and experience were awful. We were going to go to Pita Jungle and regret coming to Hillside!
