Disappointing as ever. The food was delicious but the service is why I did not have a positive experience. I came in after work on a Saturday evening. I was exhausted and hungry, I decided to treat myself to a nice meal. Upon entry I told the hostess I was going to dine at the bar. She smiled and said that was fine. Once I found one of MANY seats at the bar, a rude bartender named Jimmy told me I couldn’t sit there because the bar was on a “waitlist”. Remind you it’s 830pm on a Saturday and they close at 10pm. The bar was not full so I was pretty confused. Went back to the hostess and she said she had a table available and happily showed me to my new seat. I then waited 20 minutes for service. At this point I was going to leave because they closed soon but a random food runner took my order. AFTER she brought my wine and took my order, a server approached my table and asked if I needed anything. 30 MINUTES AFTER I SAT AT THE TABLE! I work in the industry and I feel like I was treated terribly by Jimmy the bartender. He saw my work attire and basically refused to give me service. He was rude, unprofessional and he was treating me badly because of my appearance after working a 12 hour shift. I may not look perfect, but I spent nearly $200 in this establishment by MYSELF. Jimmy ruined my entire experience. The food was good but I felt judged and inadequate even though I had the means to enjoy my meal. I will not be returning, you can get a beautiful Filet Mignon many of other places and they will treat you with kindness.

My son’s friends made reservations to celebrate his 21st bday. I called the day before to ask about bringing a cake and decorating the table. The young lady who answered the phone told me it would not be a problem. When I arrived to set up the table, I was told in fact that they don’t allow outside food but they could put the decorations in the back until the table was ready (minus the balloons). Then they had me speak with a manager, Kiera who informed me that the cake was not allowed nor were any of the table decorations. So the phone person gave me incorrect information. Then the girl at the door gave me incorrect information. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. It’s ok to not know the answer to a question; you find someone who does know the answer. Their lack of knowledge and unwillingness to find someone who did, cost me money and time that it shouldn’t have. I sincerely hope that the manager does in fact address this with her staff. This is an issue that easily could have been avoided. Training is key to success. Hopefully this doesn’t happen to someone else in the future.

Hillstone was recommended by some new friends I met while hiking. I chose to eat at the bar, and all the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Service was fast, and the food was truly amazing. The French dip was superb, and the key lime pie was the best I’ve had. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming but classy. A great all-around experience!

Not supporting a company that only takes credit cards. Should have sign posted at the door. Not tell you when you hand 100 dollars to server. They looked confused. Menu hasn't changed in years.

I got chewed out for sitting down at a half empty bar without a reservation. Quite possibly the most pretentious Maitre D I have ever met….and at a fucking chain restaurant!

Excellent food, excellent service, and an awesome atmosphere! I was staying at the hotel next to this restaurant. I decided to check it out and I’m glad I did. Next time I’m in Phoenix I’ll definitely be going back!
