I wanted to try a new bbq place to me. This one disappointed. Our server was great but the food was lackluster. First there are no bbq plates until 5pm. Bummer. I had wings which were okay. Pulled pork has no smoke on it at all. None. My friend had the brisket nachos and the brisket was dry. Clearly yesterday’s leftovers.

Location isn’t easy to find and is a bland clubhouse.

There are too many good bbq places in Phoenix for me to ever return.

Tucked deep within the Hilton resort grounds, Hole in Wall BBQ offers a casual and inviting atmosphere. With its unassuming name and reputation, I arrived with high expectations. While the experience was pleasant overall, the meal delivered a mix of highs and lows.

First, the setting. Despite ongoing construction that limits parking and requires a bit of navigation, the space is remarkably clean. The staff is incredibly warm and attentive. There was no wait to be seated, and the tables offer ample space for those with mobility challenges. These elements created a welcoming and relaxed environment to begin the evening.

The menu is modest, which often signals a focus on quality. I opted for the Smoked St. Louis Ribs with grilled vegetables and fries. The ribs arrived fall-off-the-bone tender, a promising start but lacked the depth of seasoning expected from a barbecue establishment. The sauce leaned heavily toward store-bought familiarity rather than a house-crafted blend with unique character.

The grilled vegetable side was notably underwhelming. Composed almost entirely of onions with a sparse showing of bell peppers, it missed the balance expected from the menu description. However, the fries and onion rings were both crisp and expertly executed; a highlight of the plate.

It is worth noting that the team is currently operating out of a food truck instead of a full-service kitchen. This certainly explains some of the constraints in execution. I chose not to rate this experience lower because of the genuinely pleasant atmosphere and the staff’s evident dedication to service.

Hole in Wall BBQ has potential. Once construction is complete and operations return to a traditional kitchen setup, I look forward to revisiting. There is heart behind the hospitality. With a few culinary adjustments, this could become a standout destination in Phoenix's BBQ scene.

Worst brisket ever, tried to charge me 32 dollars for the saddest slices of brisket I’ve ever seen. They kept the same menu as a few years ago but have reduced the quality of their food substantially. I was so excited to come here for my birthday dinner only to be disappointed. Never coming back here again. The server could have alerted me that they changed the food, but instead she saw a nice auto gratuity on the most expensive meal and kept it to herself. Shame on this place and the staff

Crazy prices and paper straws. 18-22$ for everything. French toast is 20$ for 6 pieces. They need to fix their proportions like 6$ for 2 pieces.

Right next to the lazy river at the Hilton. The food was wonderful! Yummy sandwich & amazing drinks! Try the blueberry coconut mojito. Gracie was our server & she was fantastic! Would go back again & again.

The waiter was really nice. The nachos were far from the best we’ve ever had but we were hungry so we ate it all. Overall they did have a decent amount of vegetarian options on the menu u but none of them were entrees. We recommend adding a veggie burger.

Excellent food, service, and atmosphere. Hamburger is wonderful.

Waitress was nice but we waited 15 minutes before anyone talked to us and another 15 minutes before our drinks arrived. When we finally got our food, the toast on my sandwich was burnt. Do not go here.

The absolute poorest excuse for barbecue I have experienced, and I eat barbecue regularly. The quality of the meat was terrible. Brisket is supposed to have some fat, or it gets too dry but the meat at this restaurant was almost entirely fat. The consistency was like a mouthful of gelatin. Neither my wife nor I could eat it. We ate the side dishes which were mostly something out of a bag or can, not fresh ingredients, but left the meat. Our server noted we did not eat the meat and insisted she cut the bill in half, which she did to her credit. I gave her service high marks. She also offered complimentary desserts which we declined to accept. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
