I was wondering how any restaurant would be able to successfully take over the space once occupied by Sin Muerte, which was a great establishment. Hugo's does a great job at it, and boy did they change the theme. We've gone from the somber morgue theme to a very lively, bright pink cantina, and it is so fun! Love all the funky art and the colors. Food is delicious, and I appreciate that it does not cost an arm and a leg. The menu may not look very vegetarian-friendly, but they can make just about any of the menu items vegetarian upon request. The bar area with its emerald green walls is very neat too. Drinks are colorful and fun. Metered parking outside - it's downtown Phoenix and that means parking can be a pain. Fast service with a smile. I'd go back, and would 100% recommend it.

AVOID this place! We were waiting for a seat at Matt’s Big Breakfast and saw this place. We decided to check it out. The menu is ridiculously small. Definitely not kid friendly. I ordered the breakfast burrito and I was blown away by how small it was. It was not great. My daughter ordered Chilaquiles. The looked like breakfast nachos instead of Chilaquiles. She only took 3 bites. The bacon and eggs we ordered for my granddaughter were the only things that looked appetizing. We had 2 bitter coffees and ended up paying about $48 for everything. We were so dissatisfied we went back over to Matt’s Big Breakfast just in time for our turn on the list and enjoyed a real meal.

Went here for a brunch with a large group. The outdoor patio was lovely with options for shaded seating. The cinnamon rolls were ?, we order seconds.

Came on a Saturday night for a quick drink and food. Wasn't too busy and so I sat at the bar. The Bartenders were all friendly and social. Food wise I went with the recommendation of the female bartender and got the braised beef tacos ? and they were absolutely delicious. The enchiladas which has th same meat were good as well. But the tacos were my favorite.

I love when the food and drinks are as good as the aesthetic. This place is a perfect stop on the Roosevelt row. Especially for First Fridays

Loved the Mexican food in this place, enjoyed a few appetizers and split some tacos. The food was delicious and filling.Tried a couple cocktails and loved them, the mezcal was wonderful, and tasted a margarita which was tasty. They have a good variety of local and domestic beers.Kid-friendliness: Has high chairs.

We really enjoyed our lunch on the patio with our yorkie. Bradley was our waiter and was really nice and informative. I had the two tacos with braised beef and the 50/50 tortillas. My wife had the Hugo's chopped salad. OMG. The food was delicious! We are definitely coming back and bringing friends.

Great food and cocktails at a fair and reasonable price. The cheese crisp is super thin and super delicious. The duck add-on for the enchiladas or tacos seems expensive in relation to the overall great price of the items, but it is soooo worth it. Elevates a really good dish to a whole new level.

Hugo's is a delightful addition to the vibrant culinary scene of downtown Phoenix. While we visited for breakfast, I really want to come back for lunch or dinner. Nestled in the heart of the Roosevelt Row area, Hugo's offers a refreshing atmosphere that's both bright and inviting, adorned with playful touches and colorful accents that set the mood just right. For breakfast it was a no brainer! Located right next to Matt's Big Breakfast, the 6 of us knew it would be at least an and hour to get service there. Walked up to Hugo's and got seated right away. Our experience was made even better by the warm and welcoming service from our server, who struck the perfect balance of attentiveness without being overbearing. Everyone loved their dish, the atmosphere and the service! Will be back next time for lunch and a cocktail

The brunch was wonderful and generous portions. Mimosas and bloody Mary’s were great. The service was spectacular. We would highly recommend going.

I have gone here twice and each time the bill was not correct. The first time they charged $50 for something that was supposed to be $24, which they fixed after I pointed it out. The second time was last weekend and nothing was discounted for happy hour, which I didn’t realize until I was already home and looked at the receipt. I tried to reach out to have this corrected and did not receive a response. I will not be returning.
