My favorite sandwich shop this place is a classic. Been coming here since I was little. The interior of the restaurant has changed over the years but the food is still the same. The back patio was nice and clean.

I decided to try this place for the first time today and was disappointed. The sub was not worth the $15 I paid. I wish they would have posted on line and in house what type of bread they used, they used sesame seed bread. They also did not give you the option to have a cold or toasted sub (lettuce & tomatoes were warm)and they charge you for the cheese that I thought automatically comes on a sub. There was no option to add mayo or any other sauce. Sorry but will not be returning..

Delicious and good service
Just gotta say it: I’ve eaten my way across the U.S., through London pubs, and even the markets of Stockholm. I’ve had all the hyped “world’s best” sandwiches people rave about.
And yet… the very best sandwich I’ve ever had is sitting quietly in downtown Phoenix at **J.P. McGurkee’s**.
The **Super Sicilian** isn’t flashy. It’s not built for Instagram clout. It’s just *perfect*: toasted sesame bread with the right crunch, layered Italian meats, melty cheese, peppers, and dressing that somehow hit *every* note.
No gimmicks. No overload. Just balance. Flavor. Satisfaction.
If you want to know what a **world-class sandwich** tastes like, forget the food capitals. Start with McGurkee’s. For me, the Super Sicilian isn’t just great—it’s the benchmark I measure all others against.

Yucky pizza. Go elsewhere.
A legendary local spot. Not much more to say. Try the super Sicilian and Meatball. No frills sandwich spot. Family run
Yummiest sandwich in phoenix
Fantastic sandwiches. A must try.
I had heard many wonderful things about this place and was hoping to find a new great spot. When I walked in I saw a large party and a few scattered 2 tops. The restaurant had a cozy look to it and It appeared that the customers were enjoying their food. Unfortunately, there was nothing that was bad and I would not eat, but we were underwhelmed. If you’re a local, it’s fine but I would not consider it a destination spot to eat. To be fair, I had a to go order and we might have had a better experience eating there. The staff was pleasant and attentive. However, when I got home with my 7 sandwiches (got a variety) they forgot 5 of the 7 sides. My understanding was that the sandwiches came with chips or potato salad. I opted for potato salad which was good. In any event, my rating is based on the fact that I thought it was average. I think 3.5 stars is realistic.
Kid-friendliness: There was a large party there the day I went with several kids.
