No one was here when the wife and I went. So we had easy parking and no people rushing us. Nice hike. We went in the caves and hiked all the way down to the river. We would do it again. Short and easy and not crowded.
Food very good service not so good

Update 01/20/2026:
We decided to bring my parents to La Barquita during the first week of January, and let me tell you, the food was still top-notch. Even my picky parents were impressed.
Now, let's get to the real tea. The food might be amazing, and our server (bless his heart) might be kind if a little slow, but there's a certain red-haired woman with glasses who seems to think customer service is optional. She was rude when we walked in, rude when I asked a simple question about the bill, and downright cold when my brother went to pay. She didn't even speak! If she reads this: yes, ma’am, it’s me calling you out. I’m the one matching your energy in this review, because everyone else might let it slide, but I won’t.
In summary: the food’s worth the trip, but be prepared to deal with the red-haired gatekeeper of bad vibes. Hopefully management takes note, because I definitely won’t be the last to say it...

Great Mexican cuisine. You can speak English or Spanish. Plenty of choices to eat, from tacos to soups.

On the outside, it looks like a hole in the wall type of restaurant. The food is some of the best Mexican I've had. Nice employees, good service, and amazing food.

Went here for the first time and had an absolutely amazing experience, I ordered the huevos con nopales and it was tremendous! The service made the experience even better, my waitress Bety really made me feel welcomed and comforted and all around taken care of in terms of hospitality and service. I would definitely recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a great dining experience with amazing food! 10 out of 10.

This is definitely a gem in Phoenix, and it's not hidden. Their breakfast plates are great, but the pancakes are the reason I never miss a chance to eat here. I don't know how they make their pancakes, but they are insane; I don't even have to use syrup, they're great just like that. The service is always nice, but their food is always great. Make sure you try the Birria!

I recommend this restaurant. The food is flavorful, authentic, and not extremely expensive. The portions are large as well. The atmosphere is nice. Very ethnic and felt at home. Tortillas seem to be home made as well as the sopes. The birria was excellent. The menu is extensive carrying a lot of the mexican food I crave 😋
