So pretentious and definitely not the vibe unless you want to sit cramped shoulder to shoulder with strangers or sit three to a loveseat while plenty of empty chairs available. On top of that they have major construction happening and it’s like a maze trying to find and they act like they’re such a gem worth the hike. If you bring a date here she will likely not like you for such poor venue taste alone

I was a fan of MercBar, but my last two encounters gave me the impression that it’s now (or maybe has always been) a racist establishment. I don’t throw that word around lightly. I’d like to give the benefit of doubt and say the doorman is simply rude and disrespectful. But I can’t deny what my friends and I experienced in comparison to others who were present. After the second encounter, I stopped going. However, I figured I should make others aware.

Beautiful hidden gem. Stumbled upon this little cozy spot on accident, and it was perfect. Great knowledgeable bartender and top shelf drinks. Even got samples of drinks.The decor is so cozy and intimate.I will visit it again!

Place was a little too dark inside with the lighting and difficult to find. There’s a lot of new construction going on in this small plaza. The bartender was a little slow on drinks as well, they don’t serve any food here either. It’s a little pricey too for average drinks.

Historic bar in Esplanade. Great ambiance, great drinks and and great service. Always a good spot to finish your evening.
I encountered a very uncomfortable situation visiting this bar. One of the guests had been staring at me from across the bar all night, and then when a seat opened next to me he moved from his seat to sit next to me and positioned his chair so that it was facing me and staring at me. I told him he was making me feel uncomfortable, but because the guest was a regular the bar supported and stood behind him. Not only did the bar manager make very inappropriate remarks about me to other bar guests I didn’t even know, but she followed me into the bathroom and started knocking on bathroom doors looking for me. After all this, when I go to close out my tab the bar manager also attempted to double charge me for drinks, and she wouldn’t take my word and kept telling me I was wrong until she was eventually corrected by another bartender. It’s sad that this bar used to be amazing, but it’s been in serious decline probably mostly due to extreme unprofessionalism by the staff.
