Good morning now that I've had time to process my thoughts. Let me tell Y'all about my experience last night Momma’s Soul Fish & Chicken in Mesa, AZ. I have been craving this restaurant since they were in Phoenix, never made it so now they finally in my neck of the woods, I found time to make it there after working a 13.5 hour shift. I only been in AZ for 17 months so I was excited to eat here being from the Midwest. I walk in, servers greeted me, the wait was about 20 minutes to be seated which I understood because they had like 2-20 tops there. When I was seated. I first though maaannnn this is nice just the atmosphere and the layout. Our server was extremely nice, definitely a huge shout out to Cheyenne if that is how her name is spelled, she delivered exceptional service and should definitely be promoted. I order my food, she explained that everything is cooked to order, I did wait around 30 - 35 minutes for my food so I was like okayyyyy, I know this food about to smack. Now mind you all, the manager walking around doing her manager duties, finally my food came. I have pictures I will attach. The food portions are nice. I think as a chef, it's one of the nicest plated food places I've seen since being in AZ. I ordered the catfish strip meal with spaghetti and cornbread dressing and a pork chop on the side. Here is where I was highly disappointed. I saw they had potatoe salad on the menu, but the manager rudely couldn't tell me if they used Miracle whip or mayo, I wasn't asking for her recipe, just was curious to help with my decision. I said ok scratch that, Ms. Cheyenne was trying to help but she didn't know herself, ok let's keep going. As I dig into my food, the fish first was fried extremely hard and I ate 1/4 pieces from the excessive use of salt and MSG, I pushed that to the side and starting trying the rest of my food. I took my fork and tasted the spaghetti, it wasn't too bad, a little sweet but the spaghetti sauce made it fit all in together, the cornbread dressing was absolutely disgusting, it had no flavor, something hard was in it, now I been a chef and manager for a long time and my people from all over the south, I don't know what was used but it wasn't cornmeal or idk maybe it was, it just wasn't too my liking so I ask if I'm able to not get a refund but replace with something differently after it took me 8 mins to get the managers attention. As she walked up to me, I say excuse me ma'am! but am I able to replace this with something else, she looked at me y'all rolled her eyes and said NAAWWWW BOO MOMMA DONT DO NO SWAP OUTS, before I can ask another question, she just walked off. Once she realized I wasn't going to eat the dressing, she walked up again to my table rude AF and quote 'IF YOU NOT GONE EAT, YOU CAN MEET ME AT THE CHECK OUT COUNTER AND I'LL CASH YOU OUT, I just laughed because clearly she needs customer service etiquette and Cleary some managerial skills. My server walked up and was so nice and polite and was going to swap out until the manager said something. She apologized for her and said there was nothing she could do. I kept repeating over and over in my head WWJD, WWJD Lord 2025 I'm humbling myself. Now that Pork chop, it was the best thing I had out my entire meal. Those who know me know i don't eat big portions from WL surgery or even eat a lot at all however It was fried nicely, wasn't too salty, crispy.and not dry. I give it a 10. What I didn't realize is they have a create your own meal where you can pick different meats to go with it, I didn't like how if I decided to pick 3 different meats, it comes with no sides unless you pay extra, paying $40 for 2 different types of meats with no side at all is just highway robbery but maybe that's a AZ thing. I would love nothing more for the owner to reach out to me, which I believe is Brandon because some talk offs with his choice of management is absolutely needed. I understand she was probably tired, exhausted and

The catfish and collard greens are second to none. Enjoyed the shrimp basket and fried okra. It’s a Friday night favorite for us!

The food was good, we got fried chicken and fried tilapia. Unfortunately the wait time is excessive. We were told about 30 mins but it took over an hour to get our food. The owner was very nice and friendly. Our server did an okay job, we had others check on us more than she did. Probably won’t be coming back just due to the wait.

The customer service was non-existent, you were sat at table with menus and had to go to the register to place your order. We paid for water and had to ask for our drinks multiple times.

Was super excited to try this place after seeing it on a food critic’s instagram. Pretty disappointed! It wasn’t busy at all but some they were still backed up and we waited about an hour for our food. Continued to ask the ETA of our food, and was told the kitchen was back up. I have no idea how when there was not many tables there with guest. However, there was one young lady who wasn’t even our waitress (light skinned, shoulder length black hair, that was down) who checked on us more than our waitress did. Once it came, the waffle was cold (butter wouldn’t even melt), the sweet potatoes were cold and was mush, and the fried okra was on the verge of being cold and was missing ALL of the batter. The wings I saw on instagram were so big and looked amazing, and what I got was these small a** baby wings, I couldn’t believe it especially because the plate was $22 for four. Combining all of those 4 wings, it was about 2 and that’s pushing it. We were so hungry at this point that we only mentioned the sweet potatoes being cold, they were taken back only to be put in the microwave to heat them up. That right there says enough, why aren’t hot fresh ones brought back?! Okra had some spots of batter but that’s it!! The greens were full of stems, and there was no meat in sight. My wife had pretty big pieces of chicken, the Mac and cheese was good, and the dressing was ok. It was advertised as a brunch with a DJ and stuff but the DJ didn’t start until 2:30, which we were done by then. I received the bill and noticed I was charged for the sauce on my wings which I was prepared for, but then they charged me a separate $1.50 for them to be tossed. Hell I could’ve did that myself free!! I love to see my people having businesses, but we tend to forget the important things…….SERVICE!! There were a few tables complaining about when their food was coming!! I hate to write these types of reviews, but that’s the only way to hopefully have someone else have a better experience than I did.

The food was delicious. I Catfish straps, cabbage and coleslaw. The fish was seasoned well, fried like I like it and fried to order. The cabbage and coleslaw was very good. The owner was very nice and inviting. She came to our table to see how did we like the food. We will definitely be back again.

I found this place online I seen it was black owned I was so excited to support finally this will be the one after trying lolos chicken Harold's Chicken soul food Sunday Etc all of them a disaster. Finally I thought I had found a restaurant that really knew how to prepare soul food. I spent a total of $80 three greens three macaronis one waffle and 12 wings. The wings were huge inedible not cooked thoroughly lots of veins disgusting the flavor was great but I could not indulge. The macaroni was mediocre did not look the same as the pictures presented on their website very disappointing. Coming all the way for Maricopa 8:00 p.m. last night I don't know if this was due because they were closing shortly but I was in no way please with my purchase. And after spending so much money I could have just taken my family out to sit down and eat at a restaurant and actually enjoy and be able to eat our food. I will kindly appreciate if someone from the establishment will reach out to me and give me a full refund for not being able to even consume my food and make right the anger that I had last night to get in my kitchen and cook for my family because the food was unacceptable it's not right. I definitely do not recommend
