Nice atmosphere and great-tasting broad spectrum of house beers. Medium-size bar with a dozen chairs. Numerous 6-top cherrywood tables in a large room, dimly lit 15’ ceiling with numerous silent TVs showing sports channels. South-facing mostly covered patio along busy Dunlap with overhead heaters and fans. Covered north-facing patio with less traffic noise. Arcade room with a dozen games.
Excellent service. Mini Pizza goes well with their Pale Ale and mellow IPA. Bubble-gummy Belgian was on the sweeter side. Nice variety of ales and lagers. Beers-to-go available.
A nice spot to relax.
Outstanding customer service, great foods and beer.
The food was so great! BEC burger and fries was amazing. The service was superior. This place is a gem.
At North Mountain you will find high quality food and beer, some oddly strict beer tasting rules, and an inviting interior space.
Food and beer menus have a lot of variety to them. Food ranges from German pretzel bites (and other assorted Oktoberfest-themed German specials) to Filipino lumpia and Fried Rice to other standard pub fare like fries, burgers, and even pizza. Their lumpia absolutely slapped, and so did that peanut sauce that went along with it. Makes you wish there were a lot more Filipino dishes on the menu if they can do that one so well. The beers ranged from German, Belgian, English, Scottish, and American. That Scottish Ale, Grooving with a Pict, was a stunner. You should try it if you like malty, full-bodied ales with a bit of smokiness and sweetness, too.
Your mileage may vary, but getting tastes or samples at North Mountain was a real hassle. A normal thing to do when visiting a brewery's taproom, especially for the first time, is to ask for a couple of samples of their draughts. Here, the response was, 'You can try one or two.' This seems reasonable. Nobody should be trying to build themselves a free flight of beers by sampling every dang one. There is a way to say this though that doesn't make the customer feel like they're asking you to push the button on the end of the world. After sampling a couple (and honestly, the pours on the tasters were heavier than expected), get a full pour. Mind you though, it is only available as a 20-ounce pour. No regular pints, no half pints, and no way to really sample the brewery's offerings, if that's your thing. They may have had flights, but they were never offered when asked 'What size pours do you have?' Twenty ounces is a lot of beer, you know. After finishing your Big Boy Pour, you might like to go for a different beer on the menu, as one does. That end-of-the-world taster question will come up again, though. And here, things might get truly odd. You've had two samples and an overstuffed pint and would like to sample two more beers to see which one you'd like to try next. Here, the response is, 'You can only have a maximum of three samples, and you've already had two.' Why, though? Are there problems here with people getting tipsy on tasters? Is it a money thing, like free samples are a waste of beer? Is it a time and service thing, like your bartenders don't need to spend their working hours pouring samples and having to do the dishes after? Is there a reason not based on pettiness? Either way, it does not come off as a service-first brewery experience. That bartender may hem and haw and with incredible reluctance may give in to your world-ending demands, but no more samples after that. So, the service here, as far as North Mountain calling themselves a brewery and having a taproom to sample the wares, is an atypical brewery taproom experience. Not recommended and it will leave a bad taste in your mouth.
There is plenty of parking and it's easy to find. What felt like the back entrance (?) from the parking lot was not very inviting. Maybe some signage or decorations on that brutal patio fence? Interior was nice. Exposed pipes and ducts for that industrial vibe, mixed with plenty of wood-top tables and bar seating, and cute, colorful hand-written chalkboard decorations all around. Some TVs, too, to give it that mixed sports pub vibe. The overall atmosphere is 100% more like a restaurant than a brewery.
Overall, an average experience. The service needs to as good or better than the food, beer, and atmosphere, but it's sadly confrontational and off-putting.
The beer here is absolute garbage. It all tastes like English bitters because the lines have not been cleaned in ages. I hear the food is good but I haven’t tried it.
Again, I repeat, the beer is garbage. I really wish I could say better, but a group of us went to NMBC to try new beers, and we left 10/11 beers of our two flights unfinished because it wasn’t worth it. When asked which beer was our favorite, the only response we could muster is “it’s hard to say.”
Good food, good service, nice place
Food and service were wonderful! The hazy was delicious.
My kid was selling fundraiser cards for his Sunnyslope football team. North Mountain Brewing was on there, with a 10% discount on total purchase. We gave it a try tonight, and we all decided it was one of, if not the best places to eat and/or drink on this side of PHX (it beats a lot of other places on other sides too)
Philly Cheese Steak was soooo good. Pilsner was bomb. Service was great. Servers are cute and charming. Atmosphere is comfortable.
Giddy up cowboy
We have been coming here for a year and have had great experiences with service seating anywhere other than the bar.
Today the service was terrible at the bar! The food has been ok. For the most part, we love their sweet potato fries but today I made the mistake of ordering the pretzel bites. DO NOT ORDER THE PRETZEL BITES!
We will continue to visit because they have good beer and they are conveniently located for us plus the atmosphere is grwat any night other than trivia night for us lol
But we WILL NEVER SIT AT THE BAR AGAIN!
STAY AWAY FROM THE BAR AND THE PRETZEL BITES!!
Local brewer in north central phoenix with food. First time here and it seems like a good place to get a note with a variety on the menu from Lumpia to Candy’s Filipino Fried Rice to Brick oven pizza and standard appetizers and sandwiches
My Mindless Monkey hazy looked like an Arizona dust storm

Ordered the buffalo pizza was absolutely horrible. Sent it back. Ordered wings (very cheap chicken) and pretzel bites (not pretzel bites, miniature Cafeteria dinner rolls with salt and butter on them), Also absolutely horrible..their beer is decent and service was nice but unfortunately we will not be returning,
North Mountain Brewery has a lot it could do to make life better for its customers—starting with not blatantly ripping people off. You take out a “growler,” expecting 32 ounces of beer, but by the time you get home, it’s mysteriously shrunk to 16 ounces.
Then there’s the staff, who claim “everyone here is a host.” Except when a late-arriving guest needs help finding you, they suddenly forget how to host.
Food? Skip the burger unless you're ready to choke on dust. The fish and chips? Only order if you enjoy the sensation of drinking straight oil. Honestly, most menu items are overpriced, and the staff know it.
Oh, and speaking of pricing tricks—sure, the water was fine, and I planned to leave a generous 30% tip. But the bill already had a 20% gratuity tacked on before I even saw it. Isn’t it illegal to demand a tip?
Add to that the cold, uncomfortable seating and mediocre food priced like it belongs in a fine dining establishment, and you have yourself a place not worth stepping foot into.
To be fair, Candy, the woman who waters the plants, is the best thing here. Shame she doesn’t run the place—maybe then it wouldn’t be such a sad excuse for a brewery.
Kinda pricy which is fine if there is good service but there just… wasn’t. I was with a good sized group and was just there to drink and didn’t get checked on a single time I was there, which is kind of crazy since we were the closest table to the server station. It just felt like they were trying to rack bills up rather than provide a good experience. My one drink I got to have was good though, except for I couldn’t tell if my glass was dirty or just really scratched, but I guess bar glassware must’ve gotten really expensive or something idk. Only reason I’m giving them three stars is because they had live music that was excellent.
Great pub food, yummy imperial brown and friendly folks. We'll come back!
We got takeout here and the food was amazing! My son kept talking about the pizza all night long. Also their shoestring fries were addictive! And their lumpia was pretty authentic tasting! I noticed how fun the atmosphere was when I went to pick up my order. Will definitely be back with our family
