We stopped in and got a delicious rose, lavender, honey latte before our pottery class. Perfect start. We were in a smaller class, we had never done pottery and our teacher was excellent. Taught us well and broke down the process to simply the basics. We left feeling accomplished and can’t wait to throw again! Bennett is a great teacher, can’t go wrong booking with him.

This is the cutest little coffee shop with excellent drinks! My husband and I took the beginner's pottery making class with Michelle, and it was a blast. Michelle is very kind, patient, and talented, and she is a great instructor for newbies. Highly recommend!

I took my boyfriend to their beginners wheel class and we had the best time! The instructors were super helpful if we had any questions or were just having a hard time and the whole experience was just amazing.

Amazing date night! Bennett was a great instructor. Patient, humorous, informative, and intentional. Andrew was great and assisted where/when needed. Will definitely be back!

Very nice concept. Wish there was one closer to where I live. This location has a coffee shop and pottery studio. The intro wheel class was good and i enjoyed myself. They have a variety of clases and I felt the price was just right. The one in Tempe does not have a coffee shop so if you’re wanting to do a fun coffee/pottery class date stick with the downtown location. Few things to note. Make sure you are booking for the correct location and read their rescheduling policy. You’re going to get messy so dress for mess. Leave the bling and nails, and nice clothes at home and come in things you don’t mind getting clay on. Overall I would absolutely recommend PIP + Clay for a nice time.

I had so much fun

Loved the experience. Went for my adult daughters birthday outing. They make it look so simple but it was a little bit more difficult when you go to do it yourself. So, pay attention to every detail as they are explaining directions. Our instructor, Dan, was awesome, amazing, helpful, and patient. We all really enjoyed doing it and plan on going back for more. My only reluctance would be that they are cashless and I am not a supporter of companies that turn their back on one of the foundations of keeping our country from a digital system. Everything else. Loved!

My teenage daughters and I had the best time making pottery! The instructor was very helpful and patient with it being our first time on a pottery wheel. He really helped us understand the process and make something fun. It was definitely a memorable experience and we will go back for sure!

I had a great time at PIP Coffee + Clay learning how to throw clay. The instructor was so helpful she gave great instructions/demo and took the time to help me on a one on one. Such a great way to learn something new and fun. I recommend you try it-you’ll enjoy it :).

I took the mugs and hugs class at the Tempe location and it was so much fun. Even tho my mug turned out kind of wonky and chonky, the instructor and other class members were so nice, which made the whole experience really great. The class length is 2.5 hours and I used every minute of it.

This was so much fun and James was a great instructor (and super funny)! Don’t worry about being any good or not. Just go and have some fun!

We took a beginners class with Chandler and it was a blast! He was an excellent teacher - helpful, funny, sarcastic, entertaining. I would highly recommend taking a class. We also had an oatmeal cookie while we waited and it was delightful! Can’t wait to try some drinks when we head back to pick up our pieces!

Extremely Disappointed — Broken Promises and No Response

I booked a Beginner’s Wheel Throwing class at PIP Coffee + Clay at Tempe locaiton in May 2025 for my boyfriend while we were visiting Phoenix. The class itself was great, and this review is not directed at the instructor — they were kind and helpful on the day of the session.

However, the way the studio handled things afterward was shockingly unprofessional.

Before booking, I contacted them to confirm whether they could ship the finished piece, since we live out of Arizona. They said yes, clearly explained the process and how to pay for it, as showed in the screenshot. After the class, we never received email about shipping like they promised. Instead, weeks later, we got an automated message saying it was the “last chance to pick up” — with no clear shipping option or payment link. I followed up multiple times with our full email thread, offering again to pay shipping, and received no response whatsoever.

To this day, we have no idea what happened to the piece. If it broke, they could have at least told us. This was a meaningful experience for us — not just a casual pottery class — and to be completely ignored after payment and effort is unacceptable.

It feels like they’ll say anything to get you to book the class and then disappear once you’ve paid. Be warned if you’re from out of town or care about the final piece — you might never see it again, or even hear back.

I’ll attach a screenshot of their earlier promise to offer shipping — so this was not a misunderstanding.
