I walked into the place at about 1 pm and the lights were off, there was no furniture, and the whole place looked dusty like it hadn’t been cleaned in a while. The first employee I come across was a prep cook, who seemed to be the only person who spoke English. When I asked if the place was open, the prep cook was nice enough, but wasn’t sure how to answer, saying that he had only recently started, but that this wasn’t a sit down restaurant, it was take-out only.Okay, makes sense why there is no furniture. Then some woman comes out of the back (manager perhaps?), and asks if I am picking up a catering order. “No, I don’t have an order, I’d like to just order takeout, please.” (The place also didn’t smell like food, or really like anything was cooking, plus there were no sounds of any activity from the kitchen.)I was then informed that there was no menu to even order from. Special of the day? Nope. The lady then told me politely that if I wanted food, I should go down the street to the Mexican restaurant.100% this place is a front for some sort of operation.

Came in here and it was a mess. No one really wanted to help me and tables weren't set up at all. They didn't really want to service me and told me that they only do catering even though it's clear they have a normal menu as if they were a sit down restaurant. Extremely shady place.

Wanted to try this place when in town, called and lady picked up the phone, she was rude when on the phone and its catering service pretty much.

This five star review is very personal. If I wasn't me, it would get a 3 or 4. But let me convey my feelings. It might make you want to go check it out. I'm a Ukrainian Jew. I used to be a Russian Jew, because when my parents came to the US as refugees, it was ALL just one big, happy, Russia dominated prison camp. Er, did I say prison camp? I meant happy smiley camp. But I digress. So imagine my surprise upon moving to Arizona when I drove past Samarkand Restaurant a block away from my apartment. I came back. I saw that it was Glat Kosher (the the highest level of kosher). Bukhara Jews from Uzbekistan. Wow! So what you get is pretty much as authentic as, Uzbeki food gets. With a Soviet twist... they have borsch. You can't eat there. Unless you're having a party. This is what local Russians - there I go again! People from the former Soviet Union - use it for. It's basically a take away place. I got the ploff and the Uzbek version of piroshki, samos which come with a delicious roast eggplant-based salsa which was probably my favorite of the dishes. All amounting to comfort food for an old soviet refugee like me. The food was good. Not spectacular but good, and the portion was large. The ploff was super traditional, except made with beef instead of lamb. The easily fixed problem? It wasn't spicy enough for me. Anyway, it was a wonderful stroll down memory lane. I'll try the borsch next time.

SEP. 2022. There is NO Dine-In, only takeout and catering. I looked up the restaurant on Google and saw it offered Dine-In but I didn't call to verify, so when I pulled up with my family, we learned there is no Dine-In service. We had set out to sample many dishes, but missed out, sadly.

Unfortunately, they are not open when the hours are posted. It's online Togo orders only, and only when she is open. When I called her she said she doesn't know when she opens or not and sorry for the inconvenience. The Google places hours are not correct

The food was excellent! I would absolutely go back. We showed up on Friday afternoon not knowing we needed to have ordered 2 days in advance and were treated warmly by the owner. Her salads were flavorful and her beef stroganoff was a real treat. Plov was a good choice for Shabbat lunch takeaway. We thoroughly enjoyed the cuisine
