We absolutely loved this restaurant for a birthday dinner! The food was delicious, unique, and came in perfect portions to try a variety. This sort of dining experience is most fulfilling when you take your time and try a lot of different dishes, it was a perfect treat for a wonderful night out!

Excrement and beautiful sushi; while the restaurant itself is quaint and nicely appointed. The location leaves a bit to be desired. In an old rundown strip mall next to the dog wash.

Recently viewed a review of Sandfish Sushi and Whiskey on 7th avenue in Phoenix. This place looking interesting and has a different twist in several rolls. We booked an outdoor table in the back covered patio with heaters and a fireplace. Even though 7th Avenue is a busy street, it was remarkably quiet once inside. We were seated and ordered appetizers of brussel sprouts, beef dumplings and spicy tuna tostadas. The brussel sprouts were vinegary and not very good. The tostadas and dumplings were good and tasty. The time it took to get appetizers was ridiculous and our waitress was MIA. At one point, I got up to find our server and located her hiding around the corner texting on her phone. At one point, we had no wait staff for 20 minutes. We ordered 6 different sushi rolls and again, waited 45 minutes for them to be presented all at one time. Our roll order was Sandfish, Scandinavian, California dreaming, crunchy and lollipop. The attention to our table was not a priority for our waitress. The Sandfish, dragon and Scandinavian rolls were unique and quite tasty. They were a good choice. The California dreaming was adequate. The lollipop was to large to eat and fell apart once you picked it up. It is not worth ordering. The crunchy roll had no flavor. The most disappointing aspect of our meal was the lack of attention by the wait staff. 45 minutes with no contact from the wait staff us unacceptable. She either needs intense training on customer service or reassignment to a different career path. I don't feel a need to return to Sandfish. It was not worth our time and the food, with a few exceptions, was not remarkable. Our biggest regret was a blow opportunity for an evening out with good food, family and decent service.

This was unfortunately a horrible experience from the start. Friends sat at 6pm, we were a little behind. Waitress gave us happy hour menus and said there was a couple minutes left. She disappeared and 5 min later came back, we ordered off the menu and she said oh you're too late. We said okay and ordered appetizers. By the way she said appetizers are just double the price of HH and double the portion. Good to know cause it was all horrible. The Japanese pork belly bao buns tasted like raw biscuits and chewy fat. The spicy edamame was the best dish but it was so spicy only 1/2 of our party could even eat it. The spicy tuna tostadas were bland and looked like a blended spread of ahi (consistency was odd). Ordered a spicy tuna hand roll and one bite it immediately had to be spit out. Tasted like the ocean floor and was brown inside the roll. We had ordered sushi well before this point and she apologized for the delay and kept saying it would be out in 5 min, and again out in 5 min. Took 30 minutes for all drink refills. (Some drank alcohol, others water). At 8pm (2 hours since arrival, we still had no food). Manager blamed a dog scratch and stated that only 1/2 our food was actually done. We just wanted to leave at this point. $150 is what we were charged for the no refills and mediocre/rotten appetizers. ABSOLUTELY not worth it. Manager was also outwardly angry at us for it, which seemed like awfully strange behavior.

The best sushi I have had in phoenix and surrounding areas. Amazing selection of adult beverages. Friendly staff, great service! Wife and I have been many times to this restaurant. Always high quality and fresh sushi! You definitely taste the difference. Prices are a little bit higher than other sushi restaurants, but it's for good reason. The quality, the attention to detail by the chef, the flavors, and the taste. We always have a wonderful dining experience in this restaurant!

We were excited to try this place after seeing it featured on FOX news. Bartender knows his stuff and the drinks were great. Waitress was great, very nice and knowledgeable. Sushi was extremely slow to come out. For sushi it was ok, small pieces for the nigiri. Rolls were tasty but a little heavy with sodium. Wasn't busy while there so don't know why service was so slow. A bit over priced as well.

As sushi places go this is pretty legit I have had the pleasure of dining at their Palm Springs location for me birthday a few years ago and was wowed Heard they were opening here so gave it a whirl Service is spot on Bartender has his bourbon and whiskey knowledge down pat Rolls are phenomenal All the nigiri is fantastic Sashimi was ok Was trying to hold off on the review since I didn't want this place to be overwhelmed Check out the back patio..

This is a hidden gem! Would never have known about this place because it is “hidden”. Our server was great very knowledgeable of the menu and helpful in selecting some awesome sushi! Will go back next time in town!

Hidden gem in the Melrose district in Phoenix serving the best sushi and cocktails . Nice happy hour daily 4:30 to 6:30 PM. Service was outstanding. Would recommend the Waygu roll and baby langoustine roll. The brussels sprouts on the happy hour menu are the best ever, as is the spicy tuna tostada. We sat on the back patio which is very nice.

Fantastic service (Matty sp?).Beautiful menu that tastes even better than it sounds. Subtle yet beautiful room/ambiance. Portions are larger than expected. Will be back again and again. My friend travels to Japan about 6x/yr and is a serious sushi snob and loved it just as much as I did. With more food and drinks than we could finish it was only $100 each plus tip.

We came in to dine on a Friday night and had an amazing experience! The server, Eric, was very attentive and really took care of us throughout the evening. He really went above and beyond and we would definitely come back to dine in next time we're in the Phoenix area.

Wow! Traveling in from NY/NJ with golf buddies, we took a chance on this based on reviews... which were totally accurate in their praise of this restaurant. Fantastic back patio with fireplace, nicely decorated... AND the food was OUTSTANDING! We all had signature rolls after appetizers and each was delicious.

I went here for Valentine's and had a great time! I got the Valentine's tasting menu and it was delicious! The course started out with an oyster and it was very flavorful! I've never had an oyster with a lot of toppings on it so it was new for me but it was tasty! The second course was a beef tartare with a crispy potato! I loved the pairing of the crispy potato stack! I've never had this with a beef tartare and I thought it was an amazing addition to the dish! The next course was sashimi and sushi! The fish was good! My favorite one was the halibut. The entree for the tasting menu was a miso black cod with a curry base and forbidden rice with a side of fiery bok choy! It was absolutely delicious! The fish was cooked perfectly and the curry was a well rounded flavor. I didn't realize the bok choy was going to be spicy. I'm noy a huge spice person so I wish I asked for that not spicy. The final course was an earl grey panna cotta with a lavender topping and caramelized rice cake! Wow this was one of the best desserts that I've had in my life! The flavors were paired very well together! The service was good and the restaurant was super cute! Overall, I had a great experience and would love to go back again!

Great vibe and cool decor. The food was excellent. They have your standard sushi, sashimi, and rolls. But they really shine with their signature rolls. Very unique ingredients and each one tasted so good!! They also have a great cocktail list. I would highly recommend!
