Absolutely Transportive French Dining Experience
From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere had a classic French, transportive vibe that set the tone for a great evening. We started with the fresh scallop crudo and crab cocktail—both incredibly bright, clean, and flavorful. The Caesar salad was simple, crisp, and delicious.
The standout of the night was The Grand La Mer dish. Truly a show-stopper—beautifully presented and packed with rich, layered seafood flavors.
A special shoutout to Remy, who was an amazing server. Attentive, warm, and genuinely knowledgeable, he elevated the entire experience.
Highly recommend.

Came here with my bestie for my birthday dinner. All the food was amazing and the waiters and waitress were so attentive and kind. The butternut squash was my favorite. Loved the tux redux as well, it’s nice to find a good absinthe cocktail

A 10/10 experiences all around. Such a cozy atmosphere!! Had a candlelight feel but wasn’t too dark and the music was beautiful but not too loud. Drinks were great, food was absolutely incredible, and everyone was so friendly! I’d put this up there as one of the best restaurants in Arizona- a must try!

It's a cute French eatery. The seafood and cheesecake were amazing. The drink with Japanese whiskey was delicious. Definitely make a reservation.

I ordered the duck and my friend ordered the pesto pasta. Both very good dishes.
I tried the chicken liver mousse. It was a bit too salty. We ordered the baked Brie. It was three stuffed baguettes. Small portions.
The duck tasted very good. Just enough to fill me without stuffing me. If I eat too much it really uncomfortable. In this case we give Sottise 3.5 out of 5 stars. Staff are great, atmosphere has character, food is excellent, and cozy. The music is too loud and the lighting is too dark.

Unbelievably overpriced for okay food in a cute house. I have eaten much better at much lower prices. Music too loud.

Sottise shows why dining here feels like stepping into a small brasserie in France. Housed in a restored downtown Phoenix bungalow, the space blends intimacy and charm — flickering candles, exposed brick, and shelves lined with French wine. Vintage records spin on a turntable, adding warmth and nostalgia, as though you’ve stepped into someone’s living room. It’s no surprise it was named Best French Restaurant 2024 by Phoenix New Times.
For lovers of French food, Sottise delivers tradition, richness, and warmth with a light hand.
The evening began with oysters and champagne — a pairing as timeless as Paris itself. The briny chill of the oyster meets the crisp effervescence of the wine in perfect harmony. One standout version, oysters crowned with steak tartare, pairs chilled shellfish with delicately seasoned hand-cut beef, indulgent yet refreshing.
Escargot de Bourgogne arrives bubbling in garlic butter and parsley, the sauce alone worth sopping up with bread. The French onion soup gratinée is classic: deeply caramelized broth capped with molten cheese that stretches with each spoonful.
The roasted beets with brown-buttered almonds, horseradish crema, and dill bring an earthy, sharp contrast. The handmade pasta with lemon beurre, English peas, pistachio, sourdough breadcrumbs, and chive blossoms is bright, nutty, and textural — a spring garden on a plate.
Together, these dishes tell a story of brasserie classics given space to breathe in the desert. Whether it’s oysters with champagne, bubbling gratin, or bread and butter, Sottise captures the romance of Paris without leaving Phoenix.
For those who love French dining, this is the one restaurant you shouldn’t miss.
