If I could give them 100 stars I would. I went in yesterday and Reggie helped me. Customer service was great and the food was amazing. I’m originally from Michigan and this is the only spot I’ve come across that comes close to food back home. This will definitely be my go too spot. I’ll be telling all my family and clients about this place.

Reggie is the man! BBQ hands down the best in town! Must try! If you are in the west side this is the place to be! The chicken is always moist never dry! And the sauce is too damn good! I’ll be back for more! #Shoplocal #supportlocalbusiness

I was looking to support local black owned businesses when Taste My City presented itself on a Google search. The physical space is very small and the majority of business was takeout for the lunch hour. The smoke aroma is front and center upon arriving. After being greeted by the friendly owner, I ordered rib tips, brisket, Mac n cheese, and Kool Aid. The rib tips were juicy and tender. The bark on the meats was top notch. The BBQ sauce is tangy with a hint of heat, that lingers with the smoke, in the best way possible. I originally wanted the yams, but they were out so next up was the Mac n cheese. The pasta was thinner and a little smaller than others use, and this was a plus. The creamy sauce never got gunky or dry. It brought a little heat to cut the richness of the sauce. BIG portions. Leftovers of the meats was even better than Day1. A co-worker got the strawberry cake, that was a huge slice. This was moist and not too sweet. I've been to Eric's BBQ a few times, but enjoyed the smoke and sauce more at Taste My City. I'll be back!

I almost gave 2 stars but I don't want tare another black man's business down.

I'm giving this review to help because I feel like they have taking a decline since first time I came a year ago.

1. Their menu displays you can get a 1 meat of any choice but when you attempt to order brisket it's mentioned you're not allowed to order brisket as a 1 meat. But you have to order a 2 meat 1 side for 25 to get the brisket! (But they up charge you $5 if you choose. Brisket in your 2 meat combo). But it's not disclosed on the menu. (Very confusing).

2.They use to offer 2sides one meat combos but now you have to order an extra side. Which is ok if the sides were cooked with passion like once before.

3.The yams are over saturated with sugar but not terribly bad.

4. The brisket they up charge you for had more fat then meat so it felt like I got a ripped off especially since they up charge you.

5. Prices went up but the portions went down. I don't care about the price but $40 for a 2 meat combo and 2 sides is a little spendy for small portion of meats.

6 to top it all off they give you slices of bread for your bbq plate, man they gave me a end piece of bread! (Foul)!

7. The Mac and cheese taste like noodles with melted cheese and pepper.

I honestly feel they can rebound if they put the passion back into the food.

My wife and I were there yesterday and had the rib tips. The young couple get a big up from us. The taste took us back home to Chicago and they happened to be from Chi also. Will be seeing them again.

We chose this spot by random, ended up a great experience. The staff was kind and professional, and the food was delicious. We had the catfish / shrimp and the double up combo with ribs, hot link and mac n cheese for the side.
