I arrived at Texas Grill totally by accident. I got a flat tire on the 51 and pulled into the first parking lot I could get. While I was waiting for my tow truck I experienced the atmosphere and Excellence of Texas Grill Peter the bartender was warm and friendly. A waitress who was seamlessly serving to my surprise a lot of people I didn't catch her name but she was great! She interacted with me had a smile for everyone she met and controlled the atmosphere of the very busy lunch crowd on a Friday. I was truly impressed with the service I witnessed. When I arrived I wasn't quite hungry. I was welcomed to sit at the bar which I prefer or a booth. I watched giant portions of what look like home-cooked food pass by me. As my tow truck took its sweet time my appetite grew. After watching all the delicious food go by and smelling it to diving into every item on the menu which is extensive I decided on the catfish since it's not something you can get every place in Phoenix. It was outstanding. I got a side of coleslaw and I think that was the most impressive. I later asked Peter the bartender about the coleslaw and he said it's made fresh and I could certainly could tell that it was. I love local places like this with its Charming decor. I took a tough moment in my life on a busy work day and my time spent at Texas Grill made me feel like I was on vacation for an hour.

Best prime rib I've had in a hot minute. It's smoked, and the smoke makes itself known, but isn't over powering. Aimee was great! And honestly, Shiner on tap is worth the drive.

One solid recommendation--CHICKEN FRIED STEAK... and as a fallback if you don't like red meat, get the two filet catfish dinner. They're both just delicious and abundant portion size. I went here with a group and then alone to get more chicken fried steak. Yum. Great food, service and I like the western/southwestern/Texan atmosphere very much. I don't live that close to this place but ITS WORTH THE DRIVE. I will likely when I want to surf and turf pig out go here and order both the catfish and chicken fried steak for an early dinner and try to walk it off, or worst case have some awesome leftovers to put in the convection oven to reheat the next day.

The chicken fried steak has decent flavor, but the meat is super thin with thick crust. I prefer it with less breading. The sides were very standard nothing special.

Huge portions on the chicken fried steak. Potatoes and gravy very good. Biscuits soft. Overall recommend.

Went for NYE 2025 at 6:00 p.m. Called ahead for reservations for 12 asking if they would have prime rib as had read they run out. The cook and bartender, Peter, offered to buy an extra to accomodate our party. How is that for over the top service?! We said no, as we didn't know how many in our party would order it. When we placed our order they were completely sold out of prime rib. Disappointed but ordered everything else on the menu, chicken fried steak, salad, fried okra, smoked bisket sandwich, fried cat fish, chili. We had a good variety with 12 people. EVERYONE loved what they had! Delish! Our waitress, Cheri, kept us all well attended to with glasses filled with drinks, extra gooey, soft, warm biscuts, fullfilling our every request. Food came out fast. Oh, and enough food for many to take home! THANK YOU, TexAz Grill for the perfect NYE! Happy 2026!
