I've been living across the street for over a year and have yet to give this place a shot... we are so glad we came down. The service was great, personable and down to earth nothing too stuffy or fancy. Casual vibes. We also love the open kitchen and enjoy watching the chefs go to work. Tonight we enjoyed the restaurant week menu. The crab rice was so delicious the perfect amount of spice. And due to a sugar allergy the chefs made me a special dessert! So thoughtful :) If you are looking for delicious food and good vibes give this place a shot. We will definitely come back and if those chicken skins are regularly on the menu it will be weekly. Con- mixologist/bartender didn't provide the most compelling wine pairings and although they accommodated my first pairing to be low sugar he must have forgotten because they served me a very sweet dessert wine at the end. Only downside tbh.

Despite having a reservation and several google confirmations of such, I was oddly told by the waitress I did not have a reservation at all and met with what I interpreted as immediate frustration and an attitude. After showing her my email reservation and giving her my name she still stated I didn’t have a reservation. She later informed me the confusion stemmed from my reservation was not for a table but at the bar, which I honestly was not aware of. Some very nice people offered to sit at the bar instead so we joined some friends who also had a reservation at a table in a makeshift manner, ordered food and waited almost an hour to receive our meals. We had to keep repeating our requests and were rudely replied to by our waitress. The mood and vibe was hostile. My sister was later told by a male staff member that someone had a reservation and they needed the chair she was sitting from the table the couple offered us earlier. When she reminded them we also had a reservation and he literally shrugged his shoulders. Our meal was ending so we decided to leave to avoid further mistreatment. Overall we did not feel welcomed or appreciated as customers. I later checked my email and noticed my 11:45am reservation was cancelled at 11:39am by the restaurant I assume since I certainly did not cancel. The food we ordered, the damn good burger and fries, was in fact delicious but the service was disappointing.

Shrimp and grits is a quintessential Southern dish that never fails to impress with its comforting flavors and textures. The dish arrived piping hot, with plump, succulent shrimp beautifully arranged atop a bed of creamy, buttery grits. The aroma alone was enticing, a tantalizing blend of seafood, spices, and rich, cheesy grits. The first bite revealed a delightful contrast of flavors and textures. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, tender and seasoned to perfection with a hint of smokiness and a touch of spice. They were a harmonious complement to the smooth, velvety grits, which were decadently creamy and rich with a subtle cheesy undertone. What truly set this dish apart was the accompanying sauce, a luscious blend of flavors from slow roasted tomato, trinity, roasted garlic, hot sauce, and scallion. This sauce not only added depth to the dish but also provided a delightful kick of spice that elevated the overall experience. Each bite was a delightful marriage of creamy grits, savory shrimp, and a burst of flavor from the sauce.

We were so excited to finally make it here given all the reviews and great press but it didn't live up to the hype. I don't know if it was an off night but there was nothing memorable about what we ordered. It would take a lot for us to ever come back. -Chicken skins- crunchy and well seasoned-Biscuits- came out cold, had to ask our server if they were meant to come out that way- once heated up, they were the best part of the meal-Cauliflower- average-Collard greens- tasty but brought out with the apps so a bit strange to just eat collard greens without entrees -Salmon- we weren't told it was a salmon steak with bones, the server who delivered it said our server should have told us. -Pork chop- well cooked but that's about it-Shrimp and grits- great potential but seriously over-sauced (way too much hot sauce and we love spicy), hard to taste the actual food. -Ricotta- maybe a tbsp of ricotta across two pieces of Acme bread. Tasty pickled dates but not memorable or worth the price. Drinks that were supposed to be served straight up sat on the bar so when they arrived to us, they were very watered down. It made no sense because we were the only table there aside from a few people at the bar. The mezcal cocktail was yummy. The head chef/owner wasn't there and it was LDW so not sure how that plays into our experience but the food was a huge bummer.

This place has been on my Phoenix Foodie Bucket List for years now, and I finally got a chance to go. I absolutely LOVED my meal at the Larder + the Delta. We went just before the Beyonce concert and it was such a good, filling meal to have before dancing the night away. The staff was so friendly and very quick to assist. I LOVED the fried chicken skins. It was covered in a slight glaze of orange, lavender type of honey. I also had the gulf shrimp and grits, and it was amazing. The shrimp was a nice big size, the grits were creamy, and the hot sauce was a perfect blend of spice and flavor. My friend had the Blackened Mississippi Catfish, but I didn't take pictures of it - though it was very good (I snuck a bite). And we also had the Hot Water Corn Bread with a whipped honey butter. At first, I thought by the look of it and the first bite, it was kinda shortbread-ish but it was just a perfectly, non-messy consistency/not crumby but still crumbly (if that makes sense). It was very, very good and the whipped butter was not overwhelmingly sweet - just the perfect complement to the corn bread. The ambiance was clean and chill. Just a lovely time at this restaurant and would highly recommend.I will say that the parking might be a bit difficult to find because you are in downtown Phoenix where it's limited to street parking or valet, so highly recommend Uber or rideshare for convenience of getting in and out.

I stayed overnight at the FoundRE last time I had a commitment in Phoenix. I picked the hotel because of it's proximity to the larder + the delta. Yes, it's that amazing, a must stop when I have an evening in Phoenix. Make a reservation if you can, if not you may be able to grab an open spot on the patio. The menu is updated frequently, the hoppin jon was the best version of this dish I've ever had!! Shrimp and Grits also a must, the Gumbo (of course). Go, just go, whatever you order you'll dream about until the next time you return. ?

This restaurant is fantastic, the food and drinks are unique, inspired, and delicious from beginning to end. My only feedback is that the online reservation system requires a deposit fee up front, which is noted as a fee that should be deducted from your bill. But I think they forgot to deduct it from mine! It's all good, though, wasn't on purpose, errors happen ?‍♀️

This was recommended to me by a chef colleague and I was not disappointed! It is a small place and I can see why they ask you to guarantee as not a lot of seats. The design is modern industrial but the staff are engaging and create the warmth - along with the open kitchen! (Do you need warmth in Phoenix??)I was gutted when told that they only had swordfish and steak left as neither are foods I like. The chef managed to create a fried chicken dish for me. Whilst I wait I had the collared greens (bit of a kick to them) and then the cabbage (1/4 of a head on a base of purée cauliflower). Wow. Not miserly portions but decent, so glad no starter! The fried chicken was rich in flavour and the meat tender under the crispy skin. The plantain pain perdu was like a plantain banana bread with cashew cream. The cream helped balance the ‘weight’ of the bread.Jonas was on the spot and thank you for looking after me. This place was out of my way, but glad I made the trip! When getting a Lyft/Uber, the unit is #1 so watch as you may drive past it!

The Larder + The Delta stands as Arizona's best farm-to-table restaurant, an accolade well-deserved. Upon visiting, we were treated to a delightful culinary journey, starting with the outstanding fried chicken skins, setting the bar high. The watermelon and tomato salad, coupled with the flavorful flank steak/panzanella salad, showcased the restaurant's prowess in combining fresh ingredients into delectable creations. The experience was elevated further by two exceptional cocktails – the Garden Patch Kid and the arigato beucoup, the latter impressing with its well-balanced and creative flavors. All in all, The Larder + The Delta not only bridges the gap between practicality and sustainability but also delivers a dining affair where culinary artistry meets the heart of the South. Located in the vibrant Roosevelt Row Area (RoRo) or North of Downtown (NoDo) Phoenix, it is worth experiencing.

Honestly, tried to give this place a million shots over a three year span.In the last three times I've been there, I've waited at least 20 minutes for even waste before the chance to get an order in.I let me waitress know about a food allergy and as she told the kitchen, they laughed. Really weird for a restaurant that considers themselves service focused.I made an inside reservation weeks in advance of my birthday, but then was told the old room was on the patio with no shade. No apologies ... Just take it or leave it.The food is good, but the wait and the service and the discomfort are not the experience i want or need.Dietary restrictions: Not accepting or accommodating

What an experience! Such friendly staff from Jonah and Jessa, to the hostesses...lots of regulars they greeted and indeed, they treated us as if we were regulars, too, inquiring about where we were from. So good was the meal that we returned the next day for brunch. We enjoyed the chicken skin fried and drizzled with honey, pimento, and biscuits, the burger. Really, a burger? But yes, one of the best I've ever had with grilled bread and garlic aioli. Oh, and fried green tomatoes with a combination of pickled onion and perhaps fennel (?) was a creative jubilation! For brunch: lemon ricotta pancakes, so fluffy yet dense; a breakfast burrito with the perfect proportion of eggs, bacon, herbed melted cheese, and potatoes...last but not least, biscuits, and gravy which exploded with complexity. Jessa, the mixologist, was willing to make us something similar to the "Firecracker" which they had just run out of. They're the type of place that prides itself in sustainability so likewise with the menu, go early or risk possibly missing out on the meal you have your eye on. Her gin fizz was citrusy and fresh! Chef was described as very kind and obviously isn't lacking in talent! He has made a family of his small staff and his customers, too. As one patron shared with us: "how lucky we are to have such talent in Phoenix!"

The food here is SO delicious, homestyle with so many flavors but sophisticated at the same time. Finally a place in dtphx that actually has some good textures and flavors going ? shrimp and grits for brunch was top notch. Loved those crispy pig ears. Excellent with some eggs on top. Cauliflower app was really good, pancakes were highly recommended. Dirty rice was tasty. We gotta go back to try that fried fish sandwich cuz it looked GOOD. Biscuits and gravy also were well-rated by a friend in our group. The staff was super friendly and helpful even though they were very busy and kitchen was def working hard but all our food came out perfectly cooked and all at once. Nice ambience; the only thing to note is no AC inside so patio may be nice with a breeze or just dress lightly. Overall 10/10, so happy you’re in the neighborhood!

I had an incredible solo meal here that started with a delicious gin gimlet made by Jessa.I absolutely loved the fried chicken skins, crispy + salty + so YUM. The pork belly is to DIE for. Melt in your mouth texture with pickled watermelon + jalapeños + peanuts. I have eaten a LOT of pork belly and this is the best I've ever had.I wasn't crazy about the biscuits and pimento cheese, but that's more about my own preference as it was a bit salty for me. Took the biscuits home and had them with eggs in the morning, YUM. The ambiance is really lovely, I enjoyed being able to watch everything cooked on an open top in what looked like cast iron. Condiments in glass jars and real food getting cooked by people who really seem to care. I loved it and am so glad I chose to dine here.

One of the best restaurants in Phoenix. Amazing beautiful food, lovely relaxed atmosphere, kindly service. Some old faves on the menu and some ever changing new amazing dishes. I wish I could eat here every single day. It might almost be worth going broke for.Since I can’t leave another review - I’ll update this one - June 2023. Had another amazing dinner here a couple months ago, and now enjoying brunch as I type. Wowza. A knockout all around. Great with a group, or by yourself. They’ll take care of you either way.
