I’m writing to express my serious disappointment with both the quality of a recent cake I purchased from [Velvet Buttercream and thunprofessional behavior of the owner. I bought a chocolate cake for a special occasion. When we opened it, the cake had a foul smell and an unpleasant taste that made it inedible. I immediately contacted the bakery to raise the issue, expecting at least some willingness to investigate or make things right. Instead, I was met with a dismissive and rude attitude from the owner, who refused to even consider the possibility that something was wrong with the product. Rather than showing any concern for customer satisfaction or food safety, they responded with condescension and made it clear they were not interested in helping. This kind of response — denying responsibility and treating a paying customer with disrespect — is unacceptable for any business, especially one handling food. I would strongly caution others before trusting this bakery with any special event Spoiled food and this level of customer service are a serious red issue Worst is owner Aaron would not taste the cake he knows he is at fault but we contacted him immediately but he is nasty individual who knows he is guilty of disgusting cake.DONT Go
Aaron and his team at The Velvet Buttercream created the most fun and spectacularly delicious Groom's cake for my daughter's wedding this past weekend! It was a huge surprise to the groom, and loved by the golfing crowd that attended the wedding. I could not have chosen a more fun way to surprise them! The cake was all of his favorites wrapped up in cake! Thank you so much for being such a fantastic part of their big day! (And I love that you all are hometown friends from Holbrook and added that extra special touch to the day!)
The velvet buttercream catered my wedding desserts last month and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience! We added more desserts at the last minute and thank goodness we did because every single bite got eaten, and our guests are still talking about the chocolate cupcakes with espresso filling! Aaron is so great to work with- I’d recommend him to anyone!

We got pumpkin, cherry, and apple brown betty Thanksgiving pies from the Velvet Buttercream and they were all AMAZING! So flavorful. You can really taste the quality of the real butter, sugar, and fruit that they use in their baked goods. The pumpkin pie was to die for- So much smoother and richer than the ones from a grocery store.
The staff is friendly and helpful. The space is beautiful and clean. I will definitely be ordering my pies from the Velvet Buttercream again!

Yesterday, I stumbled on Velvet Buttercream’s Small Business After Black Friday Sale - 50% off! I had never had heard of this sale before. What a gift! I bought 13 different flavored signature cupcakes for a friend’s birthday party: carrot cake, cookies & cream, vanilla raspberry, peanut butter (complete with half a peanut butter cup on top), and red velvet. Every person at the birthday LOVED their particular cupcake!!! I heard “WOW!” “DELICIOUS!” “Where did you get THESE?!!” “So MOIST!” The cupcakes really added an incredible finish to our birthday celebration! Thank you Chef Aaron!!! (Just a quick note, it is key to let cupcakes or a birthday cake defrost 1-2 hours before serving - this will ensure they are incredibly moist. Due to their high quality ingredients Velvet Buttercream refrigerates all their cupcakes and cakes).

Out of all the bakeries in Phoenix Metro, this is where I go for my house parties every time. I love the macaroons.

This is my FAVORITE bakery in Arizona. The brown butter chocolate cookies are amazing and the Red Velvet cake and cupcakes are the BEST!! Very nice cozy atmosphere, the owner Aaron and his crew are awesome and you will not be disappointed!

I've decided to post my experience with this bakery because I'm heading to Phoenix again for my yearly visit to my childhood city. Last November 29th I ordered a custom sheet cake from this bakery (as it was the closest to my sister's house) for a December 1st pick-up. I spoke to the owner's mother when I made the order. She was pleasant and said she understood exactly what I wanted: A sheet cake with decorations like the type of cake from Smitty's or Fry's or Bashas in the 1970's...cursive writing with frosting flowers...remember those?
Aaron, the owner, apparently didn't.
I made the order on a Wednesday and picked the cake up on a Saturday afternoon. I arrived at 5pm because Aaron said to come after 3 pm when it would be ready...so I was late due to the streets on Central Avenue being shut down for a parade.
Then out came the cake. It was a sheet cake for sure (it was rectangular in shape)...with tiny cursive writing "Happy Birthday" and a few flowers scattered here and there...looking nothing what I had asked for. I told the employee the cake was not what I was expecting and that I would be embarrassed to serve it. The employee didn't know what to do..so he got Aaron from the back, who offered to put more flowers on and give me icing to write the Happy Birthday over again at home. Are you kidding me? I couldn't stay because it was already 5 pm and I had to get back to my sister's house before the dinner started at 5:30 pm. But more importantly, how could this have happened to such a basic request? I was very, very specific with his mother as to what I wanted and she said she understood perfectly. I also sent her pictures. This cake was over $150 and it looked so amateurish. But this wasn't the worst part. When it came time for dessert, everyone had the same comment...the frosting tasted like "plastic" and had the texture of hardened butter. It was awful. You know that taste when bad frosting coats your mouth like plastic? I think you do. No one finished their cake. Also, the cake itself was dry and the filling was almost nonexistent. This was meant to be a surprise for my sister, who turned 60 that day and I wanted to serve a cake that was reminiscent of our childhood. No cake from our childhood was ever this bad. The cake went into the trash because no one wanted to take it home..So sad! My (other) sister who hosted the party wrote a Yelp review (look for Patricia Silva under Velvet Buttercream) to which Aaron responded by blaming us.He basically said my sister was lying. As other reviewers have said here Aaron, you don't take criticism well and you become very aggressive and defensive because you didn't get glowing reviews. I'm sorry that someone told you your cakes are special. Ours wasn't....and we do know good cake from bad. Attacking customers for their reviews isn't good. My sister, by the way, never writes reviews, but this bakery calls itself Velvet Buttercream! Talk about irony. To my fellow Phoenicians...if you want a good cake, please go elsewhere...or at least to a place where the owner won't attack you for an accurate review of their work. And finally Aaron, I can have other guests from that evening confirm my assessment of the (dry...plastic...butter?) cake with no filling if you want additional reviews...happy to do so.
Happy Halloween

Not only are the goods delicious, the experience of having them do our wedding cake was so easy and rewarding. They took our design idea and executed it beautifully. I can't recommend them enough.
They made the most delicious and beautiful Hungry Hungry Caterpillar cake for my son’s first birthday. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about it! Thank you!
OMG I have to get on here and share my experience!! First off the owner and the wonderful gentleman up front were so nice and welcoming as soon as we walked in. I got the vegan lemon raspberry cupcake and the strawberry chocolate mouse that has the beautiful red hard shell. First bite I was in heaven. The lemon raspberry cupcake was so unique. You can taste how clean and genuine the ingredients are. Every dessert is beautifully hand crafted with authentic love and ingredients you can tell!! I’m going to come back and get my daughters 6th bday cake from here :) the talent is unreal ❤️ thank you so much!
