I've been going here since I was a kid with my parents. The taste has never changed you can count on the teriyaki chicken to be soft and tasty with the ginger salad. I will always come back

Fast, speedy service, to be expected from an express casual type of eatery. Prices are on par with comparable places in the area that serve the same type of food (Y*shi's) except it lacks the convenience of a drive-thru window. I ordered the katsu don bowl which by itself came out to be 7$ and some change. Placed the order over the phone (do NOT use the online ordering service as it not only adds 3 dollars to the price of the entrée items but an additional online service fee). This was my first time ordering from this place for a quick and easy lunch. Overall, I found the seasoning of the katsu to be overly salty, lacking any other type of umami flavor. The white rice served with it was drowned in sauce which contributed to the overall salt-heavy taste of the bowl. Would most likely not be enticed enough to go back.

Okay, I feel like I'm being generous with this 3-star rating. I also feel like I'm tiptoeing into this review. Tokyo Express has been in the Valley for a long time and now they're down to one location. It's not like I want a little place like this to go under, but I'm afraid, to a great extent, it kinda already has.The food isn't as good as it used to be. The servings aren't as large as they used to be. They charge 54¢ for a teensy ramekin of dressing or sauce, which is ridiculous. I rated each of the three separate categories at a 2 because the experience I had was definitely no higher than a 2, but I just feel like a two is a negative review and I'm not in a negative mood, so I bumped my overall to a three.I met my brother for lunch and we had a nice conversation, so it was fun, but this is not a fun place. This is a clean place. That's the extent of the ambiance. It's clean. The food was all but tasteless. I was really disappointed. I love Japanese food, but this was humdrum at best. It wasn't yucky! It just wasn't yummy. There was hardly any sauce on my teriyaki bowl and I hate being nickel-and-dimed over sauce. Seriously, it doesn't cost you 54¢ to make a tablespoon of that stuff. You shouldn't be charging for it at all. The place was empty at lunchtime, so I don't think I'm the only one noticing these changes. The service was lackadaisical. No smiles. No welcomes. Just slap down the food and walk away. It's not Covid. It's not the economy. It's definitely not the last of the loyal customers. It's the owner. They're doing themselves in. It's really disappointing.
Parking: Once you can find this place, tucked into the corner of a small strip plaza, you will probably have to go around by the dumpster to park. Also, they don't really have a sign, so you just have to know the place is there. Also maybe why it was empty at lunchtime.

It's gone downhill. If you want healthy food maybe go somewhere else. My rice was so greasy it was gross. I'm paying for it so I didn't want to waste it but now all that grease is making me regret it ?

this is a place I like to go when I need to do a quick meal. I do wish they brought back their large salad and the dumplings. The carrot cake was a little dry

I have been eating here off and on for 30 years. The food & customer service is excellent. Sadly, like most restaurants, the portions have shrank tremendously. (which is understandable considering our economy). Sadly I'll no longer eat here because the cost doesn't justify the small portions.

Pretty good food and a good price that's why we keep coming back.
The employees however always seem miserable. My wife and I have gone here many many many times and I have yet to ever see an employee smile or even thank you. At least that's the way it is on the weekends because that's the only time we visit.
If they ever raise their price to these ridiculous prices restaurants are charging these days, we will never go there again. Perhaps when we go to other restaurants we're paying a premium for someone who smiles and we get miserable unthankful employees here which yields us an affordable meal.

Been coming here since 1985... It's solid, it's perfect, closest thing to what you'd find in a shopping area or bullet train station in Japan! Also, James deserves recognition and a raise for his excellent service!

I have loved Tokyo Express since I was a kid. I used to eat it almost every day when I worked at Tatum & Thunderbird (RIP that location). My husband loves it too.
