We had a dinner reservation here and as our party was late, we asked if our table could be seated later. Two different hosts took time to figure that out and we opted to have drinks at 1912 until our party arrived. We sat at the bar for over 20 minutes before finally receiving the menu we asked for, despite no one else being seated at the bar. Then when our party finally arrived we opted to remain in 1912 for our dinner as they never changed our reservation and we didn’t have much time left. After asking to have a menu we were just brought over the full course appetizer with caviar we never asked for, before even getting a menu. The communication here with much of the staff seems to be a problem based on our experience. It’s a shame because we came here many times and generally had a good time before facing any difficult situation that needed to be addressed appropriately.

What an absolute gem of a place. I was skeptical at first, but my wife said I would love it. They have the most amazing and unique drinks and foods. The vanilla corn cappuccino was off the charts good. Then I ordered the pretzel which came with a unique butter and honey, Tomato/tahini bread, and their Olive dish. Flavors that you never had before. This establishment opened in 2020 and survived Covid so that says a lot. I will definitely be going back and want to try some of their breakfast items next. Also, the staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable.

This restaurant was selected by friends visiting the city. I enjoyed my meal for the most part. We ordered the charred cabbage, the potato pave, and the elote pasta, and our friends ordered the little gem salad, olives, trout and another plate of the elote pasta. The flavors were very nice- I love when food is seasoned aggressively, and I also appreciate when salt is used generously. The char on the cabbage was very nice, and the elote pasta had wonderful crunch and was plated beautifully. I tried the little gem salad and it was dressed very well, that was a true highlight of the meal. The service was polite and we were given proper guidance on how to order. We were also given all the time we needed to select our plates. The restaurant is lovely, very dim and welcoming. I loved the occasional whiff of palo santo, that is a delightful scent and helped curate a positive experience.
Now for things I felt detracted from the meal- the price for the portion is not of value. The cost to create the dish is certainly a factor but it was a very pricy meal and I did not leave feeling full (I was expecting this). The server had a little trouble remembering the table’s order and had to come back to ask again, but that comes as no surprise when orders are taken orally. The potato and yuca pave was merely okay; the presentation was a bit jarring, it had a manchego crema piped on top of it, it looked like a piece of cake with frosting on it. Flavor was a bit too round, it needed something to give an edge to it. The pico was not enough to punch through the starch and the dairy. The dining room was very loud at first, but quieted down to a more reasonable level as guests started leaving as the night progressed.
All in all, it was a pleasant evening with friends shared with some tasty bites of food. I’m not sure if I would return on my own accord, but if the opportunity presented itself again, I would likely agree to another try. Perhaps on someone else’s wallet.

I really don’t get the bad reviews — we went for breakfast and everything was amazing!
The staff were super friendly and even let us stay inside with our dog since they have a cozy lounge area.
We had the churro waffles and the seasonal pastry — both were absolutely delicious! Honestly one of the best breakfasts I’ve had.
The coffee was also fantastic; they use local ingredients that give it a really nice, refined flavor. Definitely worth a visit!

Pricey as hell. Brought out some fingerling potatoes, and the waiters telling me what mountain region they’re from. Probably 10 fingerlings and that was $22 bruh.

Cool atmosphere. Attached to a vintage thrift store. Incredible coffee menu with exciting and inventive offerings. The brunch menu was robust and accommodating to many dietary needs. Only 4 stars instead 5 because of texture issues. The BLT was soggy and the tacos lacked any form of crunch or bold taco flavor. The star was the bowl of tots, crisped to perfection, smothered in aoli and topped with seeds for a fun twist.

The food though tasty is pretty expensive for what you get. However the main complaint would be that it is rather confusing to separate what would be considered a small plate or starter to an entree. We had ribs and salmon both sounded and where priced like and entree but ended up with anl large starter mistt consulting of chips and yogurt and three ribs . Don't get me wrong I don't mind the price per se but if I want dinner and get starters that's rather disappointing. Service was mid and it was unclear who to hail for more drinks or the check. Bummer

I wanted to love this place but sadly didn’t. The food looked great and plating was very aesthetic but lacked a lot of flavor, in our opinions. The service was some of the worst we had in a while; 15 minutes to be greeted and when we finally did get the server, she had an attitude and seemed not to want to be there. She never introduced herself or explained the menu, just came over and asked us what we wanted then we never saw her again until after we finished our entire meal (apps and entrees) and our drinks and water were empty for most of the meal too and we never got a chance to order another.
We MIGHT eventually try this restaurant again for brunch, but are surely in no rush to go back.

Valentine is one of my favorite spots in the Melrose area.
I’ve been a handful of times and always enjoy the atmosphere and menu. The food and drinks are consistently great, but the service can feel inconsistent. On one visit, the host wasn’t very welcoming when I didn’t have a reservation, and there have been times when no one checked in for water or how we were doing. Other visits, though, the service has been excellent. The menu itself is creative and delicious, though I do wish there were a few more options. Overall, Valentine is a place I keep coming back to, and with a little more consistency in service, it would be just about perfect.

The vibe was good. But the food was not worth the expensive price tag and we werent sure who was our server, as it was inconsistent. All were nice but it was an odd experience. The presentation of the food was nice, but the flavor was lacking.
