This place does not disappoint. Sure, every once in a while the french fries might come out a little soggy, but should we really be eating french fries when there are so many other healthy choices. I think I’ve had everything on the menu at least five times and I love this place.

We came here for our Sunday dinner. It’s a pleasant surprise that kids eat free on Sundays. I got the Asian Flare style mahi-mahi seafood salad and the fish was very tender and had perfect wasabi flavor. The shrimps that came with it were also cooked perfectly. We also got a poke bowl and the tuna was fresh. My kid enjoyed the fish and chips and the fish tasted great, too. I’m glad although they changed the name from “coconut fish” the kept the same menu items. We will come back.

Food was fantastic the first time as the blackened Mahi Mahi was light and cooked perfectly, but the second time, the fish was so overcooked that it was like a can of tuna.

The brown rice was flavorful the first time but had no flavor the second time. Good portion though.

Not a fan of the spicy coleslaw but it’s a good portion as well.

The poke was terrible and not worthy of the praise I see online. Would not recommend.

The food is ready quickly for takeout. Have only had takeout here and ordered online.

Management has poor customer service responses to reviews that aren’t stellar, not a way to run a restaurant when customers are disappointed — yes, and they have many customers who do delivery and takeout.
Not every customer has the ability to dine in and complain on the spot. Do your job better by apologizing and promising to show the young employees how not to overcook an expensive piece of fish.

The best grilled fish you can get! We only wish there was one near where we live in Ahwatukee. With our 85, 000 upper middle-class residents, Ahwatukee would be a huge success for Maui Fish House! No doubt that people will come from Tempe and Chandler also to enjoy Maui Fish House. Can't wait!

Updated December 2025... we continue to love the food. However, the early close times are starting to burn us out. They say they close at 8pm. We joke that if we can't get there by 6:30 we shouldn't go. But last time they shut their soda machines down at 6:55!! What!?! Dear owners, change your published open hours until 7pm, because that's how other restaurants work. Also, I removed a star from atmosphere because the streamed music is always just a bit lame.

We dined in early Sunday evening. They weren’t busy and the service was very quick. Food came out quickly and looked great. It was a large portion for everyone. Unfortunately it was just OK though. We all left full though.

Coconut’s, now named Maui Fish Cafe, is some of the best fish you will EVER eat in your lifetime. Yes, it’s in Arizona, a state not known for its fish, however the owner’s Maui roots really come through at this place. The atmosphere is hip, the staff are efficient & friendly, and the fish is beyond tender and flavorful. Everything is so fresh and affordable, you can get a whole bunch of delicious fish for under $40. Get the Grilled Shrimp and Clam Chowder, you WON’T regret this delicious restaurant!! Glad to see they’re still serving delicious food under the new name ;)
