This is a remote location east of Scottsdale. The views from here are beautiful and the architecture not only blends well with the desert setting and is very well done. Excellent mood lighting for night time scenery and mood too.
I have been there twice for the restaurant and have one great meal and one mediocre. The bourbon burger was excellent. The smash burger was okay.

Food and drinks: It's a bit tricky to get to and is probably 45-60 minutes from the airport.

Beautiful property and location. Unfortunately, if you have kids, they don’t want you here. I am not sure who is managing the property but they are anything but accommodating. Pretty crazy that residents spending millions are treated in such a way. Hopefully they make some management changes to create a more friendly environment.

We live in the community and LOVE Alterra and eat there at least 3x a week. We have had brunch, lunch, happy hour and dinner. The staff is amazing, the food superb and atmosphere is cozy with outstanding views and patios.. We feel so lucky to have such an amazing restaurant and Mountainhouse Lodge in our community. The gym is fully equipped. The pools are gorgeous. All negative reviews I have read are more HOA related. I rate Alterra a 5!!!

Beautiful setting and views. Unfortunately, that’s about all the nice things I can say about this place. They don’t listen to residents re menu or service requests. They charge obnoxiously for dinner service - and as a result, there’s almost never anyone there at dinner and the atmosphere has gone way downhill. Their lunch menu is reasonable and good, but they refuse to serve lunch menu items except during very limited hours. When residents want to organize events, they stick them outside in the cold and rarely check on them for service - even when there is no one else anywhere in the club - missing revenue opportunities and generally making residents feel unwelcome. Because they can make up any shortfalls by charging residents more HOA dues (20% increases every year!) - they don’t have to listen to residents - and they don’t. Truly shocked at how diffident this place is to community concerns. Fitness center is no better - hours are limited and if you work, the hours aren’t conducive to working families. They keep charging more- but keep providing subpar service. Super disappointing - there was so much potential with this lodge. They seem to go out of their way to prove they don’t want and don’t care to listen to resident feedback.

We live in the community and are so thankful that we have a lovely spot to get a bite to eat and to meet up with our new neighbors. We love the food and the servers are just lovely, however, we always spend more time than we would prefer, as the service is very slow. Verrrrry slow. I am sure they will pick up on this as time is always a good measure of progress.

An ABSOLUTE GEM, being fortunate to find this place before it blows up is nice, because there will be a day that reservations will be impossible :) Fortunate to enjoy some of the best food in all of AZ. Very local and well planned menu. Fresh local ingredients are harder to source so sometimes they sell out of an item, no big deal it’s made me try amazing new dishes. My favorite dishes are the steaks, burgers, charcuterie plate, mussels, and the old fashion to drink is amazing.

Luxurious amenities with pools, restaurant, bar, work out center. The restaurant has an executive chef, Michael Mann. Great concept!

First off this restaurant has one of the most beautiful natural views of the Scottsdale mountain range in Valley you’ll ever see.Unfortunately, that’s where all the good stops. The food is terrible and the chef won’t take any suggestions from the people that live in the neighborhood who could frequent the restaurant the most often. Most people go there once only to realize the menu selection is limited and what is avail is as bad as everyone told them it was. Most locals prefer to meet friends for a drink there and then go out for dinner somewhere else.

Very rude host. We just arrived and then were promptly kicked out by the woman with the red curly hair. I had noted that we were bringing a small service dog in our reservation notes. For the record we own a 3.7M home recently purchased in the community. Will continue going to the Four Seasons and not this “clubhouse” with rude service.
