OBON Sushi Bar Ramen

7 people in the restaurant but the kitchen was completely backed up and slooooow! Lots of a Apologies from staff but still didn't make the wait or experience better

Just an OK experience. Food was good, Service very haphazard. Restarant was by no means busy during our meal.

Great food and drinks with a chill atmosphere. Loved the salmon bowl and the watermelon soju!

Gave this spot a try for restaurant week and I'm glad we did! Fresh modern twist on Asian inspire classics. Everything was a bit of a surprise in a fanatic way. The sake flight is defiantly made to share! Cucumber salad was delicious and you have to try the crispy rice trio. Outdoor seating was well lit and comfortable.

We went there a weekday evening at around 8 pm and the place was pretty empty when we got there. However, they were also very thinly staffed (2 wait staff that also served as the host and the bartender). We were seated promptly but then we waited for almost 15 minutes before someone circled back to take our order. The food came out pretty quick though. We really liked their new recipe on the hamachi-kama (yellowtail collar) with the glazed finish on it. The chicken bun was a little too saucy / spicy for my wife. The Obon ramen was fire as usual and the yellowtail crudo was also on point. The citrus dressing and micro greens complemented the fish really well. Overall, it was a great experience except for the initial wait.

Six of us had dinner . Ate outside. Food took forever! Was told that the 1 sushi chef was overwhelmed because “sushi was very popular tonite.” I would think that a sushi restaurant would have more than one sushi chef and not be surprised that many people are ordering sushi.! Server was as accommodating as could be and apologized many times for the extra extraordinarily long wait and missed item.

The ramen was just sub par. I drove from south valley to have a girls night out since we are big foodies and ramen is my favorite and it wasn't anything I would go back for.

Good food. The restaurant was short staffed due to unexpected issues but staff kept us informed of a little longer wait and the food was still excellent. I really enjoyed their version of the street noodles.

Is it reservation only? Because it does not say that on the website. We came at 6:00 pm last night, expecting a wait. When we asked to put our name in, we were asked if we had a reservation because they can only accommodate reservations. Looking around at the restaurant it was 90percent empty, but maybe a large party? Unexpected staff callouts? Idk it’s was very strange. So we went outside and went to the website only to find there were about 30 open reservation times. So we reserved the next time 15 min later and walked back in and they sat us?? If it is reservation only it should be on the website. In our time waiting we watched the hostess turn away 7 different parties of guests.

Food was great. Service underwhelming. But could not get over the reservation claims when clearly it was available. Just not wall ins I guess.

If you are looking for Japanese food in Scottsdale Obon is the place to go. Happy hour is served daily from 4-6. Happy hour menu half off starters and some sushi and discounts on well drinks, signature cocktails, beer, and wine. We started with Gyoza, miso soup and veggie spring rolls. Next ordered Bao Buns 2 types pork and chicken both delicious. Then shared The Strip sushi roll. From cocktails to sushi the whole meal was delicious. Service was excellent, staff was friendly and helpful on deciding what to order. Overall great experience!

Service was awful. Walked into an empty restaurant with no workers in sight. Then 2 workers walked by and looked at me but did nothing to acknowledge me. Finally the host arrived and brought me to a table. 2 servers (the same 2 from prior) tended to the other 2 tables next to me without acknowledging me at all (there were only 3 tables in the restaurant at that time including mine). They made multiple trips to and from the kitchen. It was long enough for me to almost walk out by the time one of them got to me. Once he did greet me, his demeanor was as if he wished I wasn’t there. It was extremely off-putting and made the whole experience less enjoyable. Rated 3 stars overall due to the atmosphere and food which somewhat made up for the poor service.

The food and service is always great. Yesterday on my last visit I was waiting for my friend to join. In that time I was a harassed by an older male. The staff was aware of it, checked in on me, and made me feel safe. Thank you!
