Enjoyed dinner on Saturday evening. Food (Spiga salad, seafood+pasta, and bolognese) was excellent. Service was great. Always a good neighborhood spot. Often very busy and a little noisy but tonight the atmosphere was very relaxed.
We both have Italian heritage. The entrees were very good - had the branzino that was deboned and it was quite fresh, as well as the veal with mushrooms which was a huge portion. The calamari also very good but portion was small. We had to ask for bread - which is atypical for an Italian restaurant in NYC or Chicago. The overall ambiance is exceedingly loud. Not recommended for a romantic dinner for two.
we continue to visit Spiga without disappointment. the food is is prepared beautifully with portions large enough to share. I shared the evening special of Piccata style Branzino. We appreciated the manager visiting our table to check to make sure we were happy with our our meal as well as the server. this small touch is meaningful when making a restaurant choice. We are always greeted with smiles upon arrival and when leaving.
