Very cool atmosphere! The service was okay, food was decent. I wouldn’t recommend for an intimate date, it’s more of a club/ going out setting. The food is fine dining priced, but overall just okay food. For the atmosphere and food, I would choose Roka or Dominick’s.

TLDR: Drinks, chips and salsa were good and ambiance was upbeat. Food was way too salty. Reason for the 1 star overall is solely the food. Do not recommend!!! SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!!Wow, where do I even begin. This place was extremely underwhelming. When you first walk in you are greeted by an attractive setting and ambiance that gets you excited for the rest of the offering. Came here after my fiancé kept getting this place as a recommendation as a "top restaurant" in Scottsdale, so we decided to come here on Easter Sunday, 3/31/2024. We spent a total of $285.25 with a 20% tip. We were waited on by Jordan. She was great, very knowledgeable in menu recommendations and did not forget any requests. We ordered the "No Mames" cocktail, Noble Margarita, PF margarita, guacamole, Branzino fish entrée and the Hot Rock American Wagyu with a side of Mac n' cheese, seasonal veggie (Brussel sprouts) and Mexican street corn. The corn, Brussel sprouts and the fish were extremely salty. The wagyu was underwhelming and in my opinion was a waste of money. The fish was decent after you get past the salty taste but I definitely think for what they charge, the portion and presentation was lackluster. The wagyu presentation was also lackluster. All in all, if you want a nice pregame spot for drinks and chips, you can come, but I would not recommend coming here for any formal events or special occasions and spending a lot of money, you will be left disappointed.

While visiting Scottsdale my husband made us a reservation here. I previewed the menu and became very intimidated but made a plan for what I would order.Upon entry the establishment was beautiful! We were early for our reservation so we waited outside until our table was ready. The hostess were very kind.We were seated in the bar area in extremely comfortable seating of a tufted bench with gorgeous chairs on the other side of the table. Have I mentioned how gorgeous this place was?I started with a watermelon margarita as per our server’s recommendation and it was delicious. Our table shared the queso (I recommend ordering extra tortillas!) my father in law had the lobster tacos (which are very tiny by flavorful. I had the mushroom truffle quesadillas and these were delicious!!! The sauces they were served with were so good!!! My husband had the salmon salad which I thought was very good!!! I did order us a side of cilantro lime rice which was ok, it could have been hotter. The flavors on everything were very very good!!!If you’re looking for upscale, unique flavors and a beautiful atmosphere check this place out! It is not a traditional taco spot.

Went on Easter with a group of six. It was our first time to dine there. Loved the food, the atmosphere & our server. I will definitely return. I would love to check out their Happy Hour!

My boyfriend and I’s go to birthday dinner, date night, etc. Great menu but could be updated as they’ve always had the same dishes.

Server was lovely and the hostesses were so friendly. The interior is decorated beautifully, love the use of fireplaces and fire pits. The shishito peppers and ceviche were wonderful along with the complementary chips and salsa.

My husband and I visited last night while on vacation. I am always looking for something new to try with a good atmosphere and good food. It seemed disorganized at the hostess stand upon arrival. The drinks were great. When we left, we discussed, and both shared that we were not impressed by the food. You are paying for a fun atmosphere. I was feeling nauseous so we canceled the rest of our evening plans and chalked it up to a long day of hiking. Starting around 1am my husband was up all night with food poisoning. We are thinking it was most likely the prawns dish. We shared everything else but he ate the majority of the prawns dish while I only had one bite.

We expected a higher end experience. We received mediocre at best. I ordered the tomahawk steak medium rare; recieved it medium well. The sever made excuses which were not necessary. The manger brought the correctly cooked steak. However, it took 20 minutes. The others at our table were all most finished with their meals when my steak arrived. The manager offered no apology. In addition, my friends rice was served cold to Luke warm. I doubt we will return.

was really looking forward to this dinner. was a huge disappointment. soooo loud. drinks insanely overpriced for a few sips. took 20 min to see our server. chefs insists you order entire meal at once and then they pretty much bring it at all the same time. ceviche was delish so we had high hopes for the rest, but it quickly disasapointed. tacos were all bland. no flavor. so loud and night club vibes we could not hold a conversation and just so crazy overpriced. sadly will never be back.

We went to Toca for my birthday as we had family visiting from CO and I had bragged about how great this restaurant was. We made a reservation for 6pm on a Tuesday and ran into traffic on the way due to an accident. I called at 6 to advise we would be late but was told there is no grace period past the 15 mins. We arrived at 6:20 and lost our reservation and put on waitlist. We waited almost 90 mins to be seated and we only were sat because we talked to the manager after an hour of waiting. The hostess was not helpful at all and was rude. I will likely not come back as they didn't care about our table and making us wait. So many more options in Scottsdale that care more about providing great service. We also spent $700 that night which I regret but wanted to have a fun time celebrating with shots and drinks. Sharing my experience and make sure you're early.

Honestly a reservation means absolutely nothing to the hostesses. Reservation made months ago. Sat my husband and I in the worst possible seat… in the bar. We were dressed well. They judged us. We will not return.

I wish I could leave an actual review based on the food- but alas. I made a reservation in February, I have been attempting to contact Toca Madera for an entire MONTH to assit in reservation modification (adding one additional person to our party) and they have not responded. An actual month. I have called 1-2x a week, (rings and rings, not able to leave VM, disconnects) during their time zone (I am EST) and submitted a form online TWICE. It's laughable. Cancelled today, something about horrible communication, in this day and age, gives me the ick. Suppose it's my own fault for considering ~a chain restaurant.
