Don’t trust this place. Gareth the manager is so weird he lets randoms into your room and my stuff was stolen. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE!!!!! Manager Paul also does not care about his customers; have stayed here over 2 years over 10 times what a mistake! Should have known. New ownership is terrible and WAY WORSE!! If you want a safe healthy environment this is NOT your place to stay

Took forever for simple food. Was bland. Staff seemed used to this low level of service and didn’t do much to make it better. Didn’t bring any utensils and had to ask. Asked for vegetarian and added chicken. They really just got everything wrong. Also the hotel staff is the same staff as the bar and they got the reservation wrong twice too. Also didn’t do much to fix it.Caesar salad clearly comes out of a bag

My husband and I stayed at the Moxy for a weekend staycation, and I'm so glad we did! From the moment we walked in and checked in, the staff greeted us with a smile. They asked questions to ensure our stay is pleasant and provided us information in case we needed anything during our stay. The room was clean and smelled fresh, the pool was amazing and the stay was relaxing and just what we needed. We will do this again!!!
Had an amazing time here at the Moxy. Paige at the front desk checked me in late at night and explained all the amenities as well as appreciating my Bonvoy status. The bar always was friendly and there was never a time you could not find someone to help you. Amil kept everyones glass full and conversations going. No one ever said no and worked to make sure you had what you needed during your stay. Tim the GM was always around to say hello and thank you for your stay.
Stylish rooms and great front desk. Lots of food choices nearby. Great coffee place, Dutch Bros. on the next block. Reasonable rates. The lobby is unique, with pinball machines and albums on the wall.
My stay at the Tempe Moxy was a great experience! Love the industrial look and the cleanliness! The hotel and room were very reminiscent of the Cosmopolitan so I like this option right here in Tempe. Room was “fun” like the rest of the hotel and the pool was inviting and quiet. For breakfast I ordered the breakfast quesadilla as recommended by Nick the bartender who by the way has excellent customer service skills and was very attentive. Emily was working the bar as well and served me fresh juice and conversed with me while I ate which I enjoyed. Shawna brought my meal out and checked on me to see if the food was to my liking which I appreciated. I like my meals hot which this was! I was extremely satisfied with my meal. On my way out Gareth offered me a bottle of water for the road which was appreciated as it was a hot day. I have to say I did not expect to be pampered as I was! Kudos to all of these fine folks! Keep up the good work Moxy!
My husband and I went to Tempe in March to visit our grandson at ASU. We typically stay at resorts within the Scottsdale area, however, we decided to try the Moxy, we were pleasantly surprised with our stay. When we arrived, we were greeted at check-in by a friendly gentleman named Amil, I believe this is his name? He explained everything about our room, and even gave us a welcome drink. We were quite surprised that the bar area was actually the front desk upon check-in. Our room was clean, very basic, but very nice. We spent three days at this hotel, and each time in the hallways we were greeted by the housekeeper in the floor with a friendly hello. We decided to try breakfast one morning at the hotel, and while we were outside, we noticed that the manager was meeting with the entire team in the lobby area. While I’ve not seen this at a hotel before, it was very nice seeing the camaraderie that was going on, and hearing how positive he was while speaking to them. You can tell the passion and level of leadership being provided at this hotel. The food was good, and the staff was simply amazing. We will definitely stay at this hotel again when back in the area for a future visit. I would highly recommend giving this hotel a try.
Do not book here if you are traveling for business! My room was dirty, the remote literally had crumbs stuck to it, the floor had dirt, the steamer did not work (when I asked for a new one, I never recieved it), there are no coffee makers in the rooms, the coffee in the lobby is OLD, the decaf has clearly been there all day and was totally gross, my room smelled like a big fart, I was very unhappy and unimpressed, I will never book here again.
I had a poolside room the first night. People were up screaming all night long so I got zero sleep. I asked what the quiet hours are and they said 10pm is quiet time. I asked if they would enforce the hours and they said no. Instead they transferred me to a cheaper room facing the parking lot and said “maybe” it will be quieter. No discount, no concessions. I’ll never stay at a Marriott property again.
I stayed in room 230 on Monday night, 3/28. I didn't sleep at all because I felt bug bites. Sure enough, got up Tuesday morning with bites on my face and hand. I notified front desk that the room has bed bugs (showed her my bites) and requested that it be professionally inspected, requested a room change and asked to speak to the manager. Unfortunately, I had to leave and headed out to a meeting, so I didn't get to speak with the manager. The manager and I were playing phone tag till I finally returned to the hotel early evening and showed him my bug bites. I was infuriating because they didn't take my complaint seriously till they saw my bites. It was only then that they tried to schedule a professional to check the room and then they changed my room. I have a strong reaction to these bites. They are extremely itchy and swollen and I ended up developing cellulitis, an infection in my hand. After a visit to urgent care, I'm now on antibiotics.

Lobby is expansive with a small bar, large TV, lots of comfy seating, pool table and a few video games. We stayed on the 1st floor facing the pool. Beds are comfy and room was spacious. Definitely needs for lighting as room was dark. No fridge, microwave, or coffee machine in room but they’re available in the lobby. The kicker is the noise. Not only the footsteps from above our room but holy cow, the street noise was unreal. Muscle cars and motorcycles reviving their engines and screaming down the street. One of the loudest hotels I think I’ve ever stayed in when their next remodel comes up, which is probably a few years from now, they need to invest in glass like they have near an airport to block out the sound. Very near to ASU campus and we were able to walk to the student Union in 15 minutes.
This hotel was fantastic! My wife and I travel for business and always stay at Marriott hotels. While we typically have not stayed at Moxy, we decided to stay at this one. While this is not your typical hotel, I will say the set up, all the common spaces and the staff were all amazing. Coffee, water, ironing boards and irons are not in your rooms but available in what the hotel calls Stash rooms. Our kids loved the record players and guitar in the room. We noticed the general manager doing a meeting in the lobby with the entire staff, talking about creating a welcome guest service environment and we’re impressed with the input he was receiving from the housekeeping team. I’ve never seen this at another hotel. Kudos to him for doing this for all to see. The food was amazing and while the bar was the checkin, the staff were great with getting everything done. If your looking for a fun atmosphere this is the place. We look forward to our next visit.
Moxy is a dirty, musty, smelly motel. The rooms are gross, and they lack basic amenities like fridge/coffee/iron. Our room was smoky - front desk couldn’t move us or provide a fan - instead they suggested we keep our front door open. The motel is grossly understaffed, and no one on site who seems to be in charge of this place. Stay anywhere else if you can.
Half hotel - half hostel. I honestly can’t understand why the Moxy would be part of the Marriott brand. This hotel was motel 6 painted modern colors. There is zero service (not even a front desk- check in at a bar)… we are in Phoenix and I was thirsty- I looked everywhere- NO CUPS in the room!! I get they might not have glasses but even motel 6 has plastic cups!! Then I went to call to see if I was missing something, surely I was, nope- no cups. Ice? You have to go to lobby and they’ll give you some. Phone? Doesn’t work. Alarm clock? Doesn’t exist. You know how annoying it is to not have a bedside table for your phone and no clock?! What time is it? Good question- get out of bed to look. Hallways are dirty. Room was Clean. We had a room for 4 (2 queens)… in the morning go to shower- there are TWO TOWELS in the entire room! I requested towels- never came. Hours later I asked- never replied. I hunted them down myself from service cart. Came back to room at 5pm- not cleaned- no towels. It’s wild really. Did I miss the part when booking where they mentioned it was a self service hostel like hotel?! Crazy. NEVER stay at a moxy if you want any type of service or normal hotel experience. Consider yourself warned.
Years ago W Hotels decided to cut themselves from the hotel chain pack(and juice their bar business) by hiring djs to spin in their lobbies. They also, in the time honored tradition, brought in some art and got hipper designers to add some sheen to their spaces. Now we've got Moxy which attempts to do a similar thing in a corporate cost conscious way which is a narrow needle to thread. (It's tough to be quirky and individualistic when you've got little cash and are stamping out a bunch of a thing.) Let's talk about the pluses - staff is nice and hardworking. (They have to be, they're doubling up jobs such as desk clerk and bartender.) There are fun elements to the design (vinyl and a turntable, pool table and video games in the lobby, glass windows in the room doors, nice repro desk lamps). There are fun little design elements scattered throughout. (Yes to the room phones, no to the Michael's clearance aphorism posters.) This location is right in the midst of ASU (so it's a nice fit to catch a game, visit a student etc.) and it's reasonably-ish priced. It's still newish so there's less wear and tear than there will be... Problem is the industrial meets steam punk meets entertainment approach conflicts with itself all over the place, especially done on a budget. Let's start with the lobby... everything is polished concrete and reflective surfaces. Since it's a big open space with many functions, it's always loud relative to the population. There's some vinyl and a turntable which don't work, since no one could hear themselves if they did. The items function as phony hipness signifiers. There's a bar where the bartender is, in a Deadwood sort of way, the desk clerk. Then there's a game area with a scattering of (free - yay!) pinball machines and video games. Unfortunately since this is a big, loud open room with a lot of activities going on, all the audio and sound effects are off. Since there's no money changing hands there nobody maintaining the machines so they're all broken to some degree. Pool area's alright, albeit tiny for a hotel of this size. The rooms - laminate flooring, concrete walls, very little sound separation from the outside. Barn door for the bathroom so little sound separation for when anyone's up to anything in there. Nice tile on the walk-in shower . No closet, just a long series of pegs across the ong wall. No trash basket for the desk/table. Cheap uncomfortable chairs. (Although there's a giant bean bag chair in the single king bedrooms, replacing the second bed). There are guitars hung in some rooms but the one I was in had broken strings and wasn't much use. If it WAS playable, I question how it would be received in these very bright, poorly sound designed spaces. I can't imagine what their 2 tiny elevators are like when the hotel is crowded and there's a bunch of people trying to get up or downstairs. There's minimal staff so a lot of functions are self-service. The people that are here were uniformly nice, hardworking good folks. I value different from the sake of being different less than different with a great execution which this is not. If the price is right (the place is not super cheap) and the location is what you need, I wouldn't throw myself in front of your Uber to stop you from staying here. If it's style you want, Phoenix/ Scottsdale/Tempe have way better options.
