Been wanting to try Cocina Chiwas for some time, and finally made it there for our anniversary dinner. Having been to Tacos Chiwas and Espiritu, we knew that the meal and cocktails would be great and our expectations were exceeded. The ambiance was perfect, seasonal cocktails were superb and our fantastic server helped us find the perfect mix of menu must haves (if you like oysters- try both ways!) and specials. Service from all staff members was excellent. We will definitely be back.

Last night we celebrated my mother's 77th birthday at Cocina Chiwas, and it was perfect. 💛 The hospitality was warm and genuine, our waitress curated and recommended the most delicious cocktails, and every dish was impeccably prepared. We've been to Cocina Chiwas several times, now, and they never fail. Each visit consisted of delicious food and amazing service. Every. Single. Time. This particular visit was slightly more challenging than the others and they were able to accommodate a large-ish party during a rare rainy day in Arizona without issue; providing the quality of food and service we've become accustomed to with each visit.

The food and service was amazing and unique. Even what you might call a Mexican food staple, flour tortillas chips, were extra special! Apparently they are homemade with a special flour! A must visit if you like upscale authentic flavors.

First off: BIG YUMS. PROS: The location / ambiance was right up our alley - confident without being pretentious. The meal was fantastic overall, including the featured Mexican wine recommendation. We'll be back and will def recommend to our foodie friends. Highlights: 1) Raw oysters - heat, sweet, salty ocean, smooth and crunch. 2) Rib eye tacos, suggested by our server, were the best we've eaten in Phoenix in some time. 3) 'French toast' ice cream sandwich was fab with butter pecan ice cream and the hit of cinnamon and sugar. LOW LIGHTS: 1) Roasted beet starter - too sweet. Would be better as a savory dish IMO. 2) Switched our servers mid-meal - vibe change and made us feel like they wanted us to leave (730pm, last table on a Tuesday night). 3) Rib eye entree priced at $70, may be market pricing and match rep of the restaurant, but felt entirely too high for the location. Perhaps the menu should be more descriptive, or servers should sell it harder as a shareable meal. I'm sure it's the the showstopper for the restaurant. Thanks Cocina Chiwas! We had a great meal.

Food was fantastic, as was the service. The only thing keeping this from being a five-star review is that we left smelling like we had been sitting in a campfire. What a dilemma! The food tastes great because it is wood fired, but you end up getting pretty smokey was well!

I ordered the Chicharon which was outstanding and plenty for two people. Wife ordered the carnitas tacos 3 of them and again good portions, tacos were good. Specialty drinks were outstanding as well as our chorizo con queso appetizer. Josh our server was awesome as well as the entire staff. Not super close to home but we will be back and try other offerings from their menu. Definitely worth a visit. 👍👍
