Dinner for New Year’s Eve, reservation so our seating was easy. Friendly and very knowledgeable staff on their menu. Delicious menu flavors. The ceviche as an appetizer is the way to go.

No sure how to start. The guac was maybe the best I have ever had which kind of sums up the entire experience. From the host John being amazing the moment we walked in to Marie our server who was so helpful helping us pick what to order. They have a lot of my favorite things. Unfortunately the relleno is seasonal which is my favorite thing. But at least that gives me a good reason to go back. My favorite is the salsa that comes with the. Quesadillas which was also amazing. This place is pricy but everything is fresh and premium quality. Taste like they do everything from scratch. Even the water tasted good. Clearly the bring you filtered water. And for my birthday they brought some amazing ice cream. All I can say is thank you for such a wonderful birthday meal. Almost made skipping Disney worth it.

We were there Saturday December 6th after the Tempe Arts festival. I'd read about their Beard Award nomination and wanted to try it. I grew up in Somerton Az across from San Luis Sonora. I ordered the carnitas tacos and my husband ordered the chicken mole enchiladas. The flavors were incredible and took me back to my childhood. The heirloom corn tortilla look small but were full of pork carnitas; the flavors were outstanding. The enchiladas were just as amazing. The waiter (Josh) and executive chef (Roberto Quintero) chatted with us extensively and made us feel at home. We both mentioned the fried potato tacos from Sonora that we grew up eatng. He made some and brought them out and they were just as incredible. This establishment was one of the best (if not the best) Mexican restaurants I've been to in a bit. It's not your regular mexican cantina style food. They cook with their soul, flavor and most importantly, family! We will definitely be back and looking forward to their other establishments. Finally, people that care about the food they prepare......it shows!

Been wanting to try Cocina Chiwas for some time, and finally made it there for our anniversary dinner. Having been to Tacos Chiwas and Espiritu, we knew that the meal and cocktails would be great and our expectations were exceeded. The ambiance was perfect, seasonal cocktails were superb and our fantastic server helped us find the perfect mix of menu must haves (if you like oysters- try both ways!) and specials. Service from all staff members was excellent. We will definitely be back.

Last night we celebrated my mother's 77th birthday at Cocina Chiwas, and it was perfect. 💛 The hospitality was warm and genuine, our waitress curated and recommended the most delicious cocktails, and every dish was impeccably prepared. Such a special evening — grateful for experiences like this and the people who make them memorable. ✨

Wonderful! Service and food are tops! John and Maria were so friendly and helpful in our selections. This is the second time we've been there and will be back in December when they update their menu!

Cocina Chiwas has quickly made it’s mark as one of my favorite spots in Tempe. With an intimate setting and stellar service, it’s a hard place not to love! I’ve dined in twice now, both times we made a reservation around 5pm when it was less busy and had no wait.

My first visit was for a leadership dinner at work. The four of us shared the Ribeye Aguachile, and my boss had the bartender’s choice cocktail and loved it. I was sick and was recommended the non alcoholic, warm Spiced Apple Cider, and it was wonderful. The aguachile was both flavorful and tender. We all raved about it to our server and she proceeded to recommend the special ribeye tacos. We ordered 2 each and all devoured them! Again, so flavorful and tender.

I couldn’t stop thinking about this place and took my partner there last night! This time, I was able to enjoy both their Red and White Sangria, and my partner got a Spicy House Margarita (Chiwarita, I believe it was named). They do not lie when they say these drinks are boozy! I of course had to get the Ribeye Aguachile again it was just as I remembered. We also split the Birria Quesadilla and it was gone in maybe 5 mins. We opted out of dessert but the Mexican hot chocolate cake our server described sounded glorious.

I will have to get everyone’s names the next time I am here. All the employees are so knowledgeable about the menu and I really enjoy the open concept kitchen. This place is absolutely worth the extra $$ to go somewhere nice. Do yourselves a favor and head to Cocina Chiwas for your next night out!

Bean and cheese burrito was not that good. But I've also had excellent dinning experiences there. I'll be back for sure. 😊🤙🏼

Some of the best Mexican food we’ve had in AZ! We started with the watermelon ceviche - refreshing and delicious (would’ve liked the pieces a little smaller, but not a big deal). The short rib was incredibly tender, and the pork was flavorful. We tried both the red and white sangria and they were tasty too. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Definitely coming back!

We've been to Cocina Chiwas several times, now, and they never fail. Each visit consisted of delicious food and amazing service. Every. Single. Time. This particular visit was slightly more challenging than the others and they were able to accommodate a large-ish party during a rare rainy day in Arizona without issue; providing the quality of food and service we've become accustomed to with each visit.
