Do you love hole-in-the-wall, authentic, fresh, scratch made, ethnic restaurants, and food? You found Tempe's secret Persian gem. Lucky you! Also has imported treats and limited grocery items.

If it wasn’t for the absolute horrible and non existent service I would’ve given this place atleast a 4 star but I came in and stood in line then after serving the guy I front of me he just left and said nothing then the guy at the other cash register took the people standing behind me in line then after helping them proceeded to talk on the phone with his friend about failing his drivers exam. I’ve never felt so disrespected at a business.

This is just an old school restaurant on the side of a market, and I love it. I appreciated that they are not some chain, but also I appreciate how awesome the food and service is

Been coming here for almost 20 years, it's always been great. Food is best around mid day when it's also busiest. Great prices on seasonings, too.

New style of food I have never had. Pulled up and parking lot was full. That's always a good thing! The smell of spices punches you in the face when you walk in. Friendly and courteous staff took care of everything.Highly recommend if only for the coffee and Baklava. Try new things and be rewarded. Everything we had was delicious.

I’m not sure how they got such great reviews?!? Having lived in the Middle East while in the Air Force and serving all over the US, I’ve had better Middle Eastern food in Colorado Springs, CO than Haji Baba. They weren’t grilling anything else when we got there, per the waiter, so we only tried the chicken shwarma, rice and falafels. Shwarma flavor was a miss and it was dry. Falafels were just okay, plus I didn’t like how they came on a plate covered in tzatziki sauce, lettuce and a tomato.Customer service was lacking. Guy was on his phone most of the time. Had to yell to get his attention when we needed something. We didn’t know how to pay so we got up and started walking to him to ask how to pay, he said at the register in the connected grocery store. It’s bad when my husband didn’t leave a tip because he’s in the service industry and is generally big tipper.

When I first walked into Haji-Baba, I was blown away by all the stuff they had. Tons of treats, ingredients, spices, and foods that we don't commonly see in local grocery stores. It was cool to see a lot of things that I had never seen before, and to start planning how I could start exploring different recipes to try out some of what I found. That wasn't even the best part! I ordered their chicken shawarma plate, and everything that came with the meal was amazing. I particularly enjoyed the garlic sauce. It was amazing and worked very well with the rest of the meal. I will be coming back again and again.

love this place. i’m a huge fan of their gyro deluxe which is basically the only thing i’ve gotten but i’ve also tried a handful of their other options and those are also good to pretty good. they do not skimp on their heavenly gyro meat and adding feta is a fun touch. also as a greek person who yearns for their moms homemade dolma, this is the closest i’ve gotten, and they also sell the tub of them there!

I’ve visited 25 countries in the last 2 years so when I review this establishment the comparison I am drawing is quite broad.Their coffee is some of the best I have had anywhere in the world including Turkey, Egypt, Italy, France, Sweden, Russia, etc.The food is authentic and prepared so freshly and with incredible ingredient quality. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. I will be returning often and recommending this spot to everyone I know.

Food got horrible. Meat was completely dry and burnt out on both orders. I remember this place was really good. Went down and they got really cheap. Too bad because they lose customers.
