Monroe's Hot Chicken - Tempe

I've been really excited to try monroes after realizing just how much I liked hot chicken. I ordered take out and it smelled really good, got home took a bite of a fry-it was alright. Tried the sauce- very underwhelming, and then tried the chicken- super disappointing. I had only tried the mild since I wasn't able to split the spice level on the online order and it has a bit of kick to it which is nice. But the tenders were not seasoned evenly so for the most it tasted like plain chicken. The tenders also weren't very big which I found surprising compared to other places in town that do and for similar price. The worker that was at the counter was nice though. Overall not sure if I have it in me to try again

I always forget to catch the names of the employees that were working today, but they always are the absolute best!!! I have celiac therefore a “gluten allergy” & they handle it beyond well despite the lack of their given resources and options on ordering online. I wish the ownership or whoever is in charge of that would be better about that. You guys do amazing gluten free protocol and that should be flexed! If it weren’t for the amazing staff I would not have known and would stick with other alternative options (which isn’t many).

Great hot chicken spot close to the Scottsdale rd. bus stop and the bike path. Everything was made fresh to order, so I didn't mind the 6-10 minute wait.

I ordered the fried chicken sandwich medium with crinkle fries. Delicious! The chicken had a great crunch and the coleslaw was tasty on top. I'd even prefer more cloeslaw and sauce to offset the spice 😅 The fries were hot and well seasoned.

I enjoyed my meal on the patio - great spot!

The only opportunity for improvement is the ranch sauce - wasn't bad, but not my favorite.

Nonetheless, I'll be back!

My chicken was raw food was really greasy! The whole meal was so disgusting the older lady with all them tattoos had attitude. The man was friendly

Fantastic food, great service, and it feels like an authentic food experience with the look of the location and quality of the food. For $13 I was able to get tons of fries and chicken and it was more than enough to fill me up unlike other chicken restaurants. 10/10 recommendation

This is one of the best halal fried chicken I have ever tried! The chicken was flavorful and filling; the two of us were almost full with just the shared chicken tenders. I ordered the medium and mild spice level in case it was too spicy, but it was the right amount and wished I had ordered the hot spicy version. I recommend getting the chicken sandwich and chicken tenders. I tried the cornbread Mac and cheese based on the reviews and it was good, but not how I would prefer my Mac and cheese. Wet wipes were given with the meal, which was appreciated.

Not sure what happened to their heat level on their chicken but their chicken had no kick this time. Still delicious though. I ordered the hot and the heat level was more like a mild. My husband got the extra hot cause he loves the heat but said his tasted more like a medium. From the look of the reviews, looks like people have been complaining about their heat level. If you can't handle spicy food, don't eat it 😅 Also, finally was able to get my hands on their Tennessee Moon Pie, it always seems to be sold out, I can see why 🤤 Definitely a must try, if they aren't sold out.

15 bucks on one chicken sandwich that was nothing but hot oil

Chicken was hot and very buttery. Fries were great , seasoned very well. Everything is made very fresh so the wait is significant and the food far too hot to eat when you get it. Plan on spending more than average time for a fast food type restaurant. Hot chicken was tasty and spicy not just burn your mouth-survival.

The gentleman behind the counter greeted me when I came in, the team was happy to answer all my questions and even offered me a sample of the Mac and cheese while I was waiting for my food. Really good chicken sandwich and Mac and cheese

I ordered a fried chicken sandwich because they don’t sell any piece of chicken just tenders , I’m already at my hotel when I opened the box, there was only one chicken fillet inside
I lost $14 in a chicken fillet 🥲
