Busy little iconic golf course.
Reasonable rates and friendly staff.
My son and I really enjoyed our experience. We haven't been golfing long, but it was a nice, challenging course that was fun. Also our first time using a golf cart on a course, so that was a bonus.
It has been a couple years since my wife and I played Shalimar. But we decided to play last and we're glad we did. They did reseed and the coarse is in decent shape. The greens are actually really nice and smooth. It looks like they are closing Shalimar for good in April 2025 so I plan on playing there several more times before then. The staff is great and the price is really good too.
Chrissy gives great beer head.
rude off duty ranger playing with his disrespectful friends. Terrible experience on such a perfectly beautiful day.
Perfect for beginners like me.
I grew up less than a mile from this Tempe treasure and would ride there on my bike with my friend John, with our golf bags slung over our shoulders. It's where I learn to play golf. I imagine this forgiving nine hole executive course is where a lot of people learn to play golf. There's talk that is going to be sold to a developer and Will be cleared away and turned into residential homes. It's prime real estate in a landlocked city. It's also a very special part of Tempe history, and once it's gone, Shalimar will be gone for good. I hope that doesn't happen.
You miserable people giving your low reviews here on shalimar. This place has amazing people, and for the price of golf, how can you complain about conditions? Go spend 75+ at another golf course if you wanna slice into a sand bunker. Ya it could use help but what’s the point if they’re gonna get shut down anyways:( #SAVESHALIMARPLEASE
Should gave read the reviews before going, this does not deserve to have 4.1 stars. The tee boxes are rock hard with little grass and mostly compacted sand. I don't think I saw a single bunker with sand, they were all overgrown. It was also packed on a Thursday morning, hole 6 had 3 groups lined up waiting. This course was not worth the $20 for a cart
This has to be a joke, how does this place have a 4.1 star review is crazy, the WORST golf course ive ever been to, if you can even call it a golf course. The "greens" have more sand then the actual bunkers. The bunkers are over grown with grass and you cant even tell it is a bunker. The fairways are mostly hard packed dirt with no grass and calling this a golf course is a sin against even the worst of golfers. I would not come back even if they paid me. Get a new manager and restart the whole course. It has potential but not in the current form. Instead of paying for google reviews start paying for a good "greenskeeper"

Friendly workers and a great place to train and get better at golf. Highly recommend if you need to get a quick golf fix or just want to get better.
This was by far the worse course i have ever seen and played. If you’re in the middle of the fairway have fun hitting out of dirt, center of green you’re probably on a patch a dirt. They could offer me money to play here again and i wouldn’t take it that’s how bad it is. No way in hell should it have 4.1 stars
Ok 9 hole course for quick, basic play. Driving range is not lit which would be nice since it’s Az. Price fluctuates year round so it is possible to play 9 for $20.00 during peak season but be prepared for it to be busy. Sometimes the crowd can get unruly.
Course is in awful condition. Overgrown bunkers, huge hard dirt patches on most holes, super muddy in many places, the greens are almost unputtable because they are covered in sand making them bumpy. The ball skips when you put. I’m played in July in Arizona and none of the holes had water… that should be illegal. All of the ball cleaning stations also were waterless. This place is just super neglected. It’s a complete waste of money to play here.
Was fortunate enough to have been behind the landscaper blowing the greens off. Would have liked a water option, but I personally was prepared. My partners were not. Cart was definitely a nice shady area to wait.
