My son and I really enjoyed our experience. We haven't been golfing long, but it was a nice, challenging course that was fun. Also our first time using a golf cart on a course, so that was a bonus.
It has been a couple years since my wife and I played Shalimar. But we decided to play last and we're glad we did. They did reseed and the coarse is in decent shape. The greens are actually really nice and smooth. It looks like they are closing Shalimar for good in April 2025 so I plan on playing there several more times before then. The staff is great and the price is really good too.
I grew up less than a mile from this Tempe treasure and would ride there on my bike with my friend John, with our golf bags slung over our shoulders. It's where I learn to play golf. I imagine this forgiving nine hole executive course is where a lot of people learn to play golf.
