So consistently good. And it's the mesquite wood cooked meat that's the star but it's accompanied by some excellent tortillas, beans and a superb fresh salsa bar. My favorite taco chain in Arizona by far. The agua frescas pair perfectly with your tacos.

Food: 6/5 Al Pastor Quesadilla: the meat was flavorful and tender while the tortillas had a perfect char. The combination of sweet pork and salty cheese was delightful. You can get a small and large size. The large size is enough to share or take home leftovers. Salsas 3/5 The salsas were fresh and plentiful. However, the guacamole sauce was bland and made for a dull sauce that did not complement the dish. The pico de gallo salsa lacked the zest that makes the salsa a good choice. Service: 4/5 It has always been busy when I stop by. However, despite the traffic inside and wait times, you can be sure that your food is cooked fresh and that your order is called in a timely manner. Even when they are busy, you can go to the front and request a takeout plate. Ambience: 3/5 The music is very loud and overbearing. You can't listen to what the person in front of you is saying. However, since this location is in downtown Tempe next to ASU, it is unsurprising that the ambience is meant to cater to young people. Overall, the food is delicious and noteworthy. However, if you like a quaint setting and high quality sauces, this place is average at best.

The Carne Asada was tough and not seasoned well and the Barbacoa was tough and clumped together as well. Tortilla were cold. My friend raved about the this place so we tried it and it was completely disappointing.

Just ate here today, what me and my fiancé thought were the best tasting tacos, turned out to be the worst food EVER. A couple hours after consuming we both started to feel really sick and both of our stomachs hurt REALLY bad, we think it has something to do with their violations to the health code that I didn't even see until after I ate here, needless to say I'll never be eating here again, what a disappointment that we got food poisoning and I'm sure other people have gone through this as well. Do better.

My husband and I stopped last minute for some tacos and were blown away by how good the food was. They have a delicious self serve bar with different home made salsas and fixings for your tacos! I highly recommend stopping if you are near ASU in Tempe!

Fun hip taco place! We walked in when they were busy cleaning which was nice to know they keep it clean and neat, had a clean smell and looked well sanitized, bonus for us when it comes to eating at restaurants! Friendly and quick service. Hubs didn't get to try their fun IPA wall selection, it was out of service. We ordered 3 tacos each and our favorite was their Pastor so ordered couple more. I didn't see Birria tacos on the menu, not sure if I was overwhelmed when ordering when it was our turn and missed it or it was seasonal option? We will be back for more again, our kids loved their asada tacos and cheese quesadillas! They have a good selection of toppings at the bar, my favorite was their pickled onions, I ended up using leftover on the cucumbers they had at the bar, was good snack while waiting for our tacos. My only complaint was the music being too loud, other then that, their service was friendly and quick, they keep their place clean and sanitized.

Absolutely loved this place. I am a Texan and I felt like I was in downtown San Antonio having tacos! Got the Barbocoa- cooked perfectly, tender and flavorful My family of five enjoyed all our tacos, the atmosphere and the music. I would highly recommend Taco Boys on Rural!!!
The tacos, esp the carne asada, were some of the best I've ever had. Smoky flavor and the sauces were excellent. Friendly, down to earth and efficient service. Clean environment. They got the formula right and execution was flawless. Please don't change!
