I frequently see Chuckbox in lists of best hamburger so wanted to try it. Parking is limited. There was a line to order. Sandwiches and sides are made to order. The space is limited. The grill master was very mechanical and fun to watch as he managed every order. As busy as they were, the cashier was still attentive to the guests in line, the dining room and the condiment bar. We tried a cheeseburger and a chicken sandwich. The flavors were good. I would go here again.
I try to come here as often as I can for an open pit cooked fatty burger from here. I've been coming here since I was a baby LITERALLY!. My father and mother attended ASU so that’s why I’ve been actually coming here for so long lol. I am 54 now, and also my sons have been coming here since they were babies as well, 3 generations and four with my grands having not been here yet, but will be soon! And we owe it all to my father, May he rest eternally in peace. He was a starving ASU Student and a KAPPA(fraternity) many years ago here and would often eat there so there is plenty of good history at this amazing burger joint. Recently I brought my cousin Kelli back down memory lane for lunch here and brought my other cousin Mark here for the first time and both were very pleased. We will DEFINITELY be coming back as long as y'all keep cooking this delicious food!

Cash only. The price for the food is very reasonable for the quality of food that you get. Hamburgers are made to order on a mesquite open grill right in front of you. Dog friendly outside but very narrow patio. Parking is very limited. All the condiments are right in the middle of the room so fill up with your favorite add-ons. And they are constantly walking around and cleaning up to make sure everything is extremely clean including the condiment bar.

I’m a burger snob, and I’m almost always disappointment by places that claim to have a great burger. But there was no disappointment here. I was skeptical because the inside feels a bit like a dive, but I think it gives the spot its particular feel. I ordered the basic burger and you get to dress the burger up yourself. I don’t go heavy with ingredients to not overwhelm the burger and bun taste or ratio. I’m telling you, it was perfection. The bun doesn’t fall apart like most places and was the right amount of soft but firm and fresh. The burger was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Can’t wait to come back.

Am in agreement with everyone. Burgers are fantastic. Haven’t been there since the mid 70’s when I was attending ASU on the GI bill. The GI bill covered tuition and housing/food off campus and $1 tickets to home football games.

The best place in Tempe for a burger. They cook it fresh in front of you over a wood fire grill and yhr fries and onion rings are cooked fresh for every order. They have all the toppings for the burgers that yiu just load up a burger the way yiu like it. The smell of a real burger never fails.
