Ordered some food for her and got set up as a to go order instead. Had to ask for utensil for a meal that would very clearly need them had I meant for it to be for to go. make sure you check your bag for everything before leaving.

I went here for the first time and tried their rib tips and brisket with side of bakes beans and green beans. The baked beans were amazing but the rib tips and brisket were so so. My husband got their pulled pork and ribs and those were way better. So I would recommend that.

Disgusting. More fat than meat in the brisket.

If you know a good BBQ you know seasoning & tenderness is top tier! This is not it. Brisket is tough & flavorless. Burnt ends were just bulbs of fat with a splash of sauce. Horrible.

Deep sigh. I wanted BBQ tips. When I got there the lady at the counter wasn't friendly at all. I should had left then, However, I was starving. Ordered the loaded potatoe with brisket for an additional $1 more. Ordered the tips with two sides. One being baked beans and mac and cheese....We sat to eat and to our disappointment both meals were completely terrible. The brisket was so extremely tough that it was like eating jerky with no seasonings. The potatoe it self was mid. Not sure how you can make a awful baked potato but it happened. Now to the tips, I come from a state where we take our BBQ serious. The tips had absolutely no seasoning what so ever. It was meat and lite sauce... The mac was over cooked no seasoning the baked beans tasted like old can. Deep sigh $35 later upset still hungry I tried to doctor it up but was not saving these meals.. even the cornbread was in need of some love. As costly as things are now days they should be ashamed

Absolutely horrible brisket. 14 hours of smoke? More like a 2 hour cook and left outside for the remander 12 additional hours. Dry, solid and disgusting. Zero flavor, I don't see how this is a 4.1 star place. If this is really Chicago style I would say stick to pizza. Waste of money 0 out of 5 stars.
Staff is good, food is horrendous.

I usually love Tom’s barbecue. I go to the one off of Alma school. But I wanted to try the Tempe location because it’s closer to my house. So I ordered for pick up in Advance at 4:30. I placed my order for a 630 pick up. I arrived at the restaurant at exactly 630 to pick my food up and the cashier made a sort of rude comment about how long I took to get there. I told him I wasn’t sure what he was talking about because I placed an order for 630 and I showed him my phone and that it said that I could get the order picked up at 6:30 and he said well my cooks don’t speak English so they don’t know that you should have said to pick it up at 6:30. I told him that’s what I thought I did because that’s what the website had me do that was the only option that I had for the menufy website. So I asked if that food had just been sitting out on the counter for hours and he said yes and then I asked if they could remake it because it was supposed to be made for a pick up at 6:30 and one of the cooks came upfront, looked at the receipt, just shook their head and walked away, and he said no. so I would like a refund on the food. I’m very upset and definitely not coming back to this location again. $45 later for cold food and I left a tip.

Tom’s BBQ-TEMPE is not the same as the one in MESA. Mesa has much better food. The Tempe restaurant is using cheap foods and the hot link meat for the sandwich was WAY over cooked! Very disappointed with the last two visits to this restaurant. I took my aunt and uncle and had to apologize for the food we received. Not what I expected…

Food was kind of bland. The meat had more of a boiled than grilled texture. The sauce was kind of bland and watered down. The coleslaw and potato salad were the best flavor of all the food we had. The cashier was a highlight and the person who delivered our food to the table, he was very friendly and polite. The place was clean and I enjoyed the music that was ambient.
Parking: Easy to find and accessible from many directions.
Kid-friendliness: BBQ restaurant....
Wheelchair accessibility: Yes, even the large electric wheelchairs.

Pulled pork tasted a bit dry for me. The brisket was excellent, though. The male bathroom hand wash sink was clogged and overflowing.

A very homey place to grab some BBQ. The lady out front definitely reminds me of being up north. It's like getting BBQ at a cookout but just in a restaurant and no music. They have dinner plates and lunch meals, which end at 2pm, to choose from
The rib tips dinner plate is what I got, and they came with sauce already on them. I did taste their spicy sauce, and it kicked the heat up a good notch or two, but it was something most can handle and was the most flavorful part of the meal
Meat had no rub or seasoning and so it relied heavily on the sauce for taste. Potato salad had no seasonings so it was bland and same goes for the corn on the cob.
This is the right spot to go to if you don't like spicy BBQ or a lot of seasoning.

My son and I dropped by today for lunch and I'm glad we did. The moment we walked in the door We was greeted by the most vibrant, welcoming, and joyful counter queen, Ms. Billie!!! It literally felt as if we were walking into someone's home. Ms. Billie was so helpful and patient as we decided and our food came out at a good amount of time. I loved the atmosphere and everyone in the kitchen was positive and greeted us with smiles. The food is delicious and the portions are nice. My belly is full as I type this lol. I highly recommend eating here and my family and I will be returning often.
